MIA

I have been Missing In Action for sometime now. Not sure where I have been, maybe at work! I can't deal with this constant "work" thing. But that is what I must suck up and do if I want to travel!
I don't know who Matt Alas (s.p.) is but weird that he hangs out with Darcy, considering Darcy is not from PEI, but isn't his girlfriend?
I am super tired now and have to go to work again. I have 4 hours inbetween jobs and thought I would say hello and let you all know I am alive.
I don't get some of the quotes, but I laugh anyway. If I think of some I will sure contribute. I'm sure they will come to me in the middle of the night or something!
Peace Amanda xoxo

Remember when...

All right I've got some new ones. Who remembers watching Disney movies at Lyndsay's to look for hidden sex messages. I can remember a certain section of the Little Mermaid we must have paused at least 5 times to look at the priest's anatomy. Oh Miss Rowe. Mr. Hanky, also at Lyndsay's. Oh the days before we used to drink... Remember the time we bought like 5 different quarts to make shooters and made a total of like 3. I think I still have some of those bottles, they'll be moving to the apt. with me. Who remembers eating and eating at bbq's at my house. I believe there was a cheesecake some forks and some sheets in the washing maching if I recall correctly. Walks from the University to Subway. Studying for Micro in the middle of the night in Main with Mark and Marcel hiding under the table giggling. 3 man! good times, bernard. The ever classic, "I'm not running a whorre house!" Oh the list could go on and on... All I've got for now, going to the movies to see Madagascar.
Love you all,
CT

The countdown is on...

Yipee!

I'm impressed that we've all managed to organize ourselves to get home on the same day...now just keep your fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong. I think that in order to ensure that we actually make it to Peake's early enough to ensure that we don't have to stand in line for 4 hours, we should lay down some ground rules...
  1. All hair, make up and outfits must be complete before the commencement of drinking
  2. We must set an alarm to ensure that we remember what time we're supposed to leave and don't totally forget that we plan to go to the bar

That's really all I've got so far. I know I'm the worst for doing my hair and make up at the last minute. Who knows...if we all do it BEFORE we start drinking, maybe we'll look even better! I know that it's not possible for us to look better, but there's always a chance. Also, since we'll all be home we can get the party started REALLY early and then there will be no excuses for lot going out, such as we didn't get enough time to spend with each other. It's not that I don't want to spend tons of time with you ladies, it's just that this will be my only opportunity yo go to Peake's for the entire summer, and I don't want to miss out, not to mention that the band is Shameless!!! Alright, the countdown is on...t-minus 23 days and counting.

Summer at last!

I have been reading the blog and laughing at all the memories...good times, good times. I keep thinking of things to add then forgetting them when I am on the computer. I am so excited that it is now June 1st! That means that I have 21 days until my last clinical day. 22 days until my last day of school. AND....23 days until I come home!!!!!!!! Yes, that's right...I'm flying into Halifax June 24th then Dad is coming to get us. All for the sake of being home on the 25th to celebrate the beginning of summer with my girls!!! I miss you! I'm so excited for summer. Especially since today it actually looks and feels like summer.

What the...?

So, I was just reading the boy's blog and Matt Allas said he hangs out with Darcy McLeod? Weird. Never thought those two would have anything to do with each other. Anyway, that's all I really had to say. Had a housewarming party here last night...the german's friends were WEIRD!!! Pretty much the other two roomies hung out with me and my friend Carolyn and her b/f Rob. We had a good time making fun of everyone else, but that's the most exciting thing that happened. Hope your weekends were all better than mine.

Here we go again...

Alrighty,
I've remembered some more. I'll try to do these chronologically and we shall begin with prom night...
  • Me having a blind date
  • Me having to use the quarter on my invitation and chilling with Lyndsay's dad for an hour before everyone came back and no one realizing I was missing
  • People getting lost on the way to the party and being very anal about their car
  • Kicking sand into the water with Rory to watch it sparkle
  • "Jordan, I don't like you, I never did like you, and I never will like you"
  • Jono passed out on the floor in his own mess
  • Pam getting locked in the bathroom
  • Some "under the blanket" action in the sun room
  • CT getting her date drunk so he wouldn't touch her
  • Early morning trips to the beach
  • Jana and Jason on Mike's car
  • The missing sheet

The following are non-prom related...

  • "Whatever Joel"
  • Getting ready for Halloween at Everett's and covering his entire apartment in glitter
  • Trying to convince that drunk 16 year old at Brown's Court that CT and I were twins, then when he believed that, that Pam and Kendra were twins, then that the four of us were quadruplets
  • The "lobster" at KB and CT's apt in Brown's Court...I've never seen a sunburn like that in my life

I think that's it for now. I just had a sudden memory and they all came flooding back. I hope you all continue to add to the list. This stuff is just laugh out loud funny. Can't wait for more!!!

Sprouting wings and flying

That's right ladies, this chickie is flying the coop. I think most of you know this already, yesterday I saw an ad for an apartment down by the water. Called the number and today put down my damage deposit and paid my months rent. It's cute, not very big but has a balcony and enough for me. It will be nice to have my own space I think. And of course as Marla says, "We're never taking a cab again!" So I'm sure this place will make its own memories this summer!

Now back to stories...
The time Lyndsay drove right over the curb in front of That's Entertainment.

"Carolyn if you don't break up with him I will!"

Did you know that they close the parkade at midnight?

Lyndsay and Carolyn in the super quiet room, studying the anatomy of the male pig and none too quietly. Gee Lyndsay that Bluefield boy just gave you a really bitchy look, yeah Carolyn he did, he's a Bluefield bitch.

The sheep

I'm sober and I swear it looked like that pig just flew, it's a flying pig!

Nerds at Myrons

RIP Sundance

So when you get a nipple rink you get a great sensation where Everett?

That's all I got for now, my Neo Citron is starting to kick in.

My contribution

Okay girls, some of there are oldies....but they're all goodies....not really quotes, but funny funny times!!!

~piano magic.....that's all I have to say....piano magic and being stranded at wendys

~Margaret and Carmen are coming!!!!! Quick throw all the bottles under the deck!

~campfire songs....oh they built the ship titanic....do you ever wonder why!!(N'Sync church choir style!)

~ah muffin....there's nothing better than breakfast when you're drunk....scrambled eggs anyone??

~the corpse....and the corpse strut

~our version of 98 degrees and fighting over who gets to be the hot one!

that's all I've got for now girls, but I'll think of more....I've been laughing soooo hard at these...I love it!!

~Kendra

Not only quotes!

There are so many funny times that I remember....but cannot remember the sayings that go along with them proboley because there was a touch of alochol involved! Remember these?

Not letting certain people take cab rides with us?

Trivia with newman or better yet dating newman?

I think someone once told a funny story about these girls in flordia and how one wouldn't let the other have any room in the bed???!!!!

The always classic "who are you?"

Does anyone else remember Dawyne? and his purple fizz bath? ....I know i do...Kendra what about the nice view we got the next morning?!

Was it breakfast or a cake at TRs????

"I just want us all to be together to bring in the new year!" (I will admitt this was an exceedingly drunk moment of mine ..... believe it or not it was before the head was slammed in the front door!)

Oh Im laughing just thinking about all of these! Good times good times!

My contribution

This is quite entertaining. I haven't been able to think of too many so far, however I did find the email CT sent me when I departed for TO that includes a whole list of them :) So, some are mine and some are thanks to CT. Forgive me if there are a few repeats. I can't check what's already there while I write this. Here we go:

"Hen, CHICKEN, Rooster, Duck!" - CT trying to get herself under the water at the beach (haha)

"What the hell did we come here for?...Go upstairs with the boy" - also CT, follwed the next morning by "Get your bra and let's go!" from me.

"Did you know they have laptops at Acadia? Did you know they use PowerPoint at Acadia?" - Tony P.

"Look...Elephant Rock turned around and his back leg became the trunk" - I think that was me...oh Destination PEI

"I was in the stall and someone dropped a beer bottle on my head!" - also me at Peake's...I recall I was crying while CT was laughing her ass off at me

"Hey guys, where did Ellen go?" and 2 seconds later "Hey guys, where's Chris?"

"Good morning Sir" - Johnny

"I'm not a drug dealer!!!" - Jordan C.

The next few aren't really quotes more just general reminders of good times:
  • Daytime Myron's
  • Is that a tarp?....oh no wait, it's a raft the size of a school bus full of a bunch of dumbass 19 and 20 year olds
  • Text messages on the dance floor (I think that was just me) although I did get one from the Lynds once while I was at Peake's

Oh good times for sure. I miss you guys!!!!! So, who's going to be home for the 25th for sure? I know it's a month away, but I'm just going to assume we're having a BBQ at CT's and I have a suggestion for beverages. When I went to visit the Lynds in December we made this highly potent flavored rum punch. Absolutley delicious and shockingly strong. Personally I've got at least 2 midterms, a final and a presentation in the week leading up to that weekend, so I'm going to need to get good and drunk and head to Peake's! Can't wait. I'm very sorry for those of you who won't be able to join us. We'll have a drink in your honor. Ok, I'm off now as I have to get some school work done. Blah.

Almost forgot...I FINALLY got myself a phone. The number's (416) 340-1952. Also, my address is 111 St. George St., Suite 639, Toronto, On., M5S 2E8

Talk to you all soon.

Why is this so hard to do and think of things, i'm going to try harder and come back to this later

They're kicking out ass!

Ladies ladies! The boys blog is kicking out blog's ass. They write about really dumb stuff but at least they write. So how are your RRSP's going? Just kidding. Here's what I propose. Michelle once said that this was a place to remember good times. Well I've had a few good times that may not be recorder here on this blog. So I propose that we start posting some good times. As well I'd like some quotes. One of my friends when they threw a party once they made posters with some of the dumb things she'd said on them. Well I'm not saying I've said some dumb things but maybe every once in awhile. So here's how I'm gonna start. A few quotes from some people, you may or may not recognize these.

"You'll have a better chance of picking up if you're by yourself."
" I should have been a doctor, I was really smart in high school science."
"Suck it." This one is allegedly said.
"Oh my God I'm a whorre I've had sex with everyone in this picture except Mr. Pendergast!"
"Here Carolyn, eat this and see if it's poisonous."
" Hey Donnie Brown I can't feel my face."
This is all I have time for right now but see who can come up with some others.LOve you all,CT

The boys are kicking our ass!

Ladies, ladies. The boys blog is kicking our blog's ass! I actually just wrote this post and then the damn thing deleted on me so here I am giving it another shot. So the boys do write about useless shit like retirement but at least they're writing. Michelle once said that this blog was a place to remember good times. In reading the archives the other day I did laugh at some of the original stuff but that only goes back to January. So I propose that we post on here some good times. The other thing I propose we post is some quotes. We'll call it quotefest. I'll get us started with a few of my favourites and you guys can take it from there...

"You'll have a better chance of picking up if you're by yourself."

"Carolyn stay right here while I go to the bathroom."

"Find your bra and meet me upstairs."

"Oh my God I'm a slut, I've slept with everyone in that picture except Mr. Pendergast."

"Suck it." This one is alleged.

"Here Carolyn, eat this and see if it's poisonous."

"Well that was a lovely ride. " "What the fuck car were you in!"

"I should have been a doctor, I was really good in high school science."

These are just a few to get us started. Keep adding to it though girls!!

News from TO

Hey ladies,

How are you? I've got lots to tell you for once. I'll start with the concert. last night I made it onto the guest list for Snow Patrol. Apparently Lynds and Amanda are the only ones of you who appreciate the band. Anyway, I couldn't get anyone to come with me and I was in such a shitty, horrible mood that I was just going to skip it, but a the last minute I decided to suck it up and go because I knew if I didn't I'd probably regret it. So, I got there and said "I'm on the list" the girl asked whose and I said Davey Sherwin, the lighting guy. She looked and looked and proceeded to tell me I wasn't on there. I nearly shit myself. She asked if I could call him or anything and I said no, but he emailed me this morning and said there wouldn't be a problem. Then she asked if he worked at the venue, I said "no, he's the lighting guy for the band" "OH! That makes a HUGE difference. Here you are!" Yeah for me. There were like 10 lists and she was looking at everyone except the bands...perhaps because I didn't have an accent and therefore probably didn't know the band (they're Irish), not sure. So I went in and hung around the lighting area. Unlike in Vancouver where we stood right next to Davey and talked to him, this time it was fenced off and people had staked out their spots around it and were fierce about staying there. It was pretty funny. So, I finally saw Davy and talked to him for a minute before the show thanking him again. The show was alright. The venue sucked. It was at the Kool Haus which is basically a modern, madeover warehouse and the acoustics aren't very good. The Vogue theatre was way better. Davy agreed. So, I talked to him abit again after the show. He asked what I was doing, but didn't suggest I go out with them, so I left. He said they'd just had a week off in NYC so they were pretty tired and likely wouldn't be doing much. Got home safe and sound and all is well.

Next, I emailed the Matt Mays site the other day looking for Tim Baker. My bro just informed me last week that the drummer for Matt Mays is a family friend of ours from Hali. His sister used to be my best friend when we lived in Dartmouth. Just sent a message saying we haven't talked in awhile, glad to hear he's doing so well and that I was going to try to make it to the show in TO in a couple weeks because it's at Lee's Palace which is literally two blocks away. This morning I got an email back from Mr. Baker saying how great it was to hear from me and he'd love to see me at the show and catch up. Just let him know, and he'll put me and a guest on the list. I'm in! I'm also turning into MJ which is scary (no offence MJ :). So, in a couple weeks I'll be meeting Matt Mays. It was funny because his email was so polite. Now he's a rockstar, but still the same, sweet little Timmy Baker. Ahhh.

My Dad's coming this weekend. Bringing lobster. Can't wait. He's also getting in touch with the father of the hot son to see what they're up to. Might see him again after the subway meeting last week afterall.

I'm getting settled in to being back in TO. My new location is so much better. I'm in Yorkville, which is where all the rich and famous hang out. Last week there were two different sets of trailers for a movie and a tv show set up behind my house. I'm just off of Bloor West which is where are the fancy stores like Louis Vuitton and Prada are, but let me tell you, nothing makes you feel more poor and uncool than walking past Dior and Cartier with your bags from Dollarama and Valu-Mart. I say this from experience.

Anyway, it seems like it's going to turn out to be an ok summer. I have an unbleievable amount of school work to do in the next 5 weeks before I come home, but it'll be worth it because all of my presentations and projects will be over with and I won't have much to worry about for the rest of the summer, except money, but that's another story. So, I shall end it here. I have to shower before the cable guy comes. Talk to you soon.

911 what is your emergency

Lastnight I was walking home from the busstop after work. I closed so I didn't get home until 2:30am!!! Totally worth the 100$ I made in tips! I was strolling along and I saw this lump on the sidewalk. I thought to myself....... "Self, why would someone put their garbage bag on the corner of a sidewalk?". As I approached the figure, I noticed it was a person!!!!!!!! He was sitting on the curb with this head to the ground, kind of an upright fetal position. I walked abit passed him then this wave of guilt came over me. Me and my "morals". I couldn't just leave him there. What if he was passed out and it started raining or even worse dead.......... I walked up closer and tried to see if he was breathing. Couldn't tell so I said, "Sir, hello!" No response. I wasn't going to nudge him, I was terrified enough already.......so........... I called 911. Got the ambulance described the situation (nice guy on the other end, he told me I didn't have to stick around since I was scared and that if I had any questions to call back). I walked the rest of the way home, feeling helpless. I called back about 30 min later and got a lady on the other end. I explained that I had called about an incident earlier and was wondering if she could tell me if the guy was ok. She was the BIGGEST bitch! She said in a snappy tone that they sent help and couldn't devulge that information. So now I will never know. I had the worst sleep lastnight thinking about it. How random for me to be walking that way, I usually walk up Commercial to 7th and up 7th Ave. Instead I got off at Lakewood. Considering it was 2:30 am it was my safest bet. I don't want anyone jumping out from bushes and scaring me to death!

Ahhh tv!

It has been so long since I've posted!! I just finished my first week of clinical in Orthopedic Surgery. The week went by really fast but was pretty tiring. We go to clinical Mon to Thurs so today was my day to relax! I spent a lot of the day watching Dawson's and Seinfeld. Then this evening Julie and I went to Jane's place to watch the last two episodes of the OC.
Michelle I loved your pictures. It looks like you had a great time!! I can't wait to go back to the "Couv". Jane and I really want to go sometime when Julie goes home. We've already decided that we'll turn Julie's house into a commune during the OIympics. I'm off to bed.
Talk to you soon!

Hey,
I arrived back in Toronto this morning. It was a very uneventful flight, except for the annoying girl in front of me who kept bouncing against the back of her seat in an effort to make it go back further, but really just ended up annoying the hell out of me. Amanda and Mo took me to the airport which was very sad. I really didn't want to leave. I've been gone 10 hours and I already want to go back. I'm arfaid to say, you may have all lost me to the West Coast. I really loved it there and am likely going to make a big effort to find a job there. As soon as I got into TO I remembered why I don't like it. It's flat, it's boring, it's dirty and sooooo busy. It took almost an hour to get downtown from the airport and it was morning rush hour, so it just seemed like we kept moving from one 4 lane highway to another and they were all jammed. I would never want to drive in this city in a million years. I've put up the rest of my pics. They're still at the site I gave before. I just wrote this whole huge long post, and now half of it disappeared. The gist of it was, I got an email from the lighting guy for the band Amanda and I saw, and he's going to put me on the guest list for the show in TO next week. I'm quite excited. So, I guess I'll try this again. I'm starving and I'm going to explore the new 'hood. Talk to you all soon.

Love,
MC

An example of my fantastic photography at Snow Patrol Posted by Hello

Patrol Groupies

Last night, we went to see the Snow Patrol concert downtown. The opening act, Embrace, was pretty good. Didn't really see much of them though. We were too busy drinking beer and eating potato wedges at the hostel down the street. We stood up at the back against a barrier kind of thing, and we were right next to the lighting guy. During the show, we made friends with the lighting guy, Davey Sherwin. I was taking pictures and he saw me and wanted to look at them. I was afraid he was going to yell at me, but he thought they were pretty cool. Snow Patrol was awesome. Amanda almost cried because he sounded Irish and he reminded her of Adam, resulting in her trying to make several overseas phone calls at the concert...even asking a couple Irish guys what the area code was for Ireland. Oh my. I took some videos and I tried to put them up on the site, but I have absolutely no idea how to do it, which is too bad, cause they're really good. At the end of the night, we chatted with Davey the lighting guy, got the set list and his e-mail so we can send him the pictures from the show, and he can show the band! We are so in. I'm thinking of asking him for tickets to the show in TO next week...what do you think? Tonight we're off to try and find Monique's sister's wedding dance. She told Amanda where it was yesterday, but she can't seem to remember, so we'll see what happens on that front. I guess that's about it from Van City. CT, so glad you're representing at Peake's for the rest of us. Hope to hear what the rest of you are up to soon. Talk to you soon.
Love, MC and Amanda

I heart Signal Hill

Actually screamed that on the dance floor last night I believe. Well ladies it's been a fairly uneventful week for me as per usual. We painted mother's day cards yesterday using rubber stamps and it was actually pretty fun. Today I am spending the day with a throbbing headache at Charlottetown Rural for a day of skating thing. Tonight I'm going to see Seussical the Musical and I am really looking forward to it. The reviews have been really good. Last night Marla and I went over to Megan's for a shindig. It was to celebrate the end of me having friends on PEI. Not really it was to celebrate Megan having gotten into school in Hali. So as she saysI really have to go visit in Hali next year. Anyway we drank there and had a few laughs and headed to the Ole Peakster at 12. I can't really tell you anything about the night that was particularly eventful or fun but I had a blast. We danced up a storm in a group on the dance floor and there was room to move! Danced up a few songs with the ole Rammer and Jeffy and then the night was over far too soon! Jonny Woo's and home. All right that's the extent of my life.

The Blog is being neglected

Girls,
What's going on here? I check the blog while on my vacation hoping to get an update on what's going on with all of you and there's nothing! Disgraceful. As for me, things out here are going great. Spent the last two nights at Jody's (I have keys!) and went to Sloan last night. It was really good considering I didn't recognize most of what they played until the encore. Tonight Amanda and I are going to Snow Patrol. Should be a good show. I'm pretty excited. Tomorrow night I'm not sure what's up, then Amanda works Sunday and Monday, so I'm heading back to Jody's for another couple days, then back to the T dot on Wednesday night. That's about it for me. When I get back to TO I'll email with more details for sure. Hope you're all doing well. Talk to you soon.

Why does everyone assume I was at Peake's?

Perhaps I was there. Perhaps I may even have been there Friday and Sat night ;) All right here's the deal. Friday night I was talking to my friend Erin on MSN and she said her roomate had called her then put a really drunk Jeff MacDonald on the phone and they were going to PEake's. It this point it was 10:30, she and I both had to work Sat morning and we were both sober in need of showers. But none the less we decided to check it out. She picked me up and we went around 11:30. The band was Shaydid, and although it was pretty cold there was a decent crowd there. We talked to Ryan, Howie and Jeff for awhile. There had been this message for me to call Jen to go to Peakes and I was like who so I hadn't called. Over come Jen Campbell screaming like a maniac. I laughed my ass off and did go dance a couple of songs with her. Erin and I left around 12:30 but the band was awesome I could've stayed longer. Last night we had our coaches party at Old Dublin during Who Wants to be a Thousandaire with Boomer Gallant. It was hilarious. Jo-Anne, my former coach, and I decided to hit Peake's. It was packed! I saw lots of people but nothing overly spectacular to report. Still I stood on the deck with Jeff and Howie looking out at the water and we were all like it's really summer. Then I did the same thing with Ben Parsons. Then Nathan Carragher. Probably a few others. Good times....
Later gals,
CT

small world indeed

I have 2 instances where this world as large as it may look in scale is as tiny as PEI itself......

1) I was talking to a guy that I met on Lavalife (I know I am back on it, but I got bored again) and we were on the subject of music. I told him I love up and coming bands. He asked me if I heard of Joel Plaskett...........DUH........ I am from the Eastcoast. We both figured out we were at the same show about one month ago and we met eachother there! What are the chances. Funny thing was when we parted ways he said, "Will I ever see you again?" That is when I said, "Have you ever heard of serendipity?"
We meet again it seems. He seems great, but who knows with the "luck" I had with the former lavalife meets!

2) Chatting to another guy from Lavalife and told him I was from PEI. He said he knew a guy from the Island. Of course I did the whole "What is his name I probally know him!" Sure enough, however you will never guess who it is. It is also quite ironic the fact Michelle is here with me as well, I thought she was going to die........... Josh Ballem, and he knows Jarrod as well. How odd!

So wherever you may travel, whereever in this world you may live remember it is not as big as you may think. There might be someone just around the corner that you have a connection with and don't even know it.

Michelle and I want updates on Peakes CT and Marla. I was talking to Rebecca but she left early. Give us the juicy stuff!!!!!!

Today is moving day, I hope I get it all done in one trip! I just want to have it done with and out of here so I can begin my life on my own!!!!!!!!! Yeah for me :)
Hope all is well, miss yas! Love, Amanda

Festival of Lights

Hey,

Just wanted to pass on what I was reading on MJ's blog just now...some of the line up for the Festival of Lights....3 Doors Down, Staind, Breaking Benjamin, Matt Mays, and Kalan Porter. Sounds like it's got to be a joke, right? MJ's done her research and I checked out all the band's sites and they really are going to be in C-town. Imagine that. This said, I need to make sure that someone gets me a pass for the whole thing as soon as they go on sale. I really really want to go. Who wants to volunteer? Things are going great out here. Amanda and I got good and drunk downtown last night. The bartender loved us and gave us each a free shot of choice. Not really needed after the 4 pitchers we split, but it was a lovely gesture and we couldn't refuse him. Ended up sending the Jodster drunk text messages and then he called back :) Can't remember all of what was said and I couldn't hear a lot of it because we were walking around all the bars, but I did figure out that he got himself and apartment and moves in tomorrow or Monday and I'm going to stay there part of next week because Amanda's snoring's keeping me up at night ;) Anyway, I should be off. We're going to go rent some movies. CT and anyone else who makes it to Peake's this weekend, I expect a full report. Leave out nothing!!! Talk to you soon.

Perhaps some glow in the dark mini golf afterwards....Don't worry Carolyn you'll get through it maybe you'll go to a wax measume or some french park ...ahahaha??!! I don't know ...
I'm moving out on sat. so i've been keeping pretty busy since then packing and stuff, cleaning etc. Been working a lot lately too cause my supervisor is prego and not doing well at all so i've been picking up some of her shifts. They Paved Paradise and put up a Parking Lot

Wow ladies. I may have to leave this Island after all if things keep closing like this on my. First Myron's and now this. No it's not Peake's but it may as well be. I just shed a tear while watching Compass where the announcement was made that Rainbow Valley is closing! I know! I finally become a teacher and this is the last year that Rainbow Valley will be open. The land has been sold to Park's Canada, the stuff will be sold and it will become the main enterance to Cavendish Beach. Direct quote, "Rainbow Valley will operate for this season and in September it will close it's gates forever." Something tells me they're not going to leave the Rainbow up. They're going to put in trails and shit. Maybe they'll at least leavethe squeaky bridge. Well that's all I got, I'm going to go see if I can figure out how to make supper. I've decided to go back and add to this post. I don't know if I told you all but the last Sat night that Myrons was open Pam and I were there and partying it up. We were going into the bathroom upstairs. You know the one, the one most of you have gotten really sick in. Anyway as I went in I thought to myself it's weird we've been running into this bathroom for years and so much has changed but this bathroom is still here. And someday my kids will be running into this bathroom too. Then there's Rainbow Valley. I used to go there every year with my family and I always assumed that someday I'd take my kids there. And now they're both gone! Really quite incredible isn't it.

Well...

Wow. That's pretty much all I can say. How about this I will organize my thoughts in a bulleted list for you guys. The list is entitled Top 10 Reasons why you should NEVER darken the door of JR's.

  1. It is the most sketchy bar ever!!
  2. It makes the Velvet Underground look like a nice elegant place.
  3. The floor is checkered in places and it makes you think you're going to fall down a flight of stairs.
  4. There are stairs leading up to the girls bathroom so that it's on it's own floor. So every time you have to go you have to climb like 2 flights of stairs, possibly in stilettos.
  5. Remember those people from the smoking doors in high school that you wondered where they were? I found them!
  6. Downstairs there's a band who wants to be Metalicca and played a lovely song entitled Angry Lullaby.
  7. Coat check is this tiny little keosk, good luck.
  8. Remember those nights you were at Myrons and people were sketchy and you were like I hate this place even though you secretly loved it. There's no secrets here you really do hate it!
  9. So so dirty!
  10. And finally, IT'S NOT MYRONS!! That's right ladies I found myself missing Myrons a lot last night. Luckily Peake's opens next weekend!

Friday night at the Wave was fine, not overly exciting though. Hope you're all having a better weekend that Marla and I ;) Just kidding it was fun and a true learning experience.

Panic attack

I wish one of you was here right now. I'm kind of freaking out over the packing up of the room. It's 8:50 and I'm still not quite finished and when I finish, I have to vacuum and I guess cleaning the bathroom's going to have to wait for the morning. So, like 98% of my stuff is packed, but as I look in the closet where all my stuff is, I wonder how in the hell it's going to fit into a car to get it back to TO in 3 weeks. However, it all fit on the way here and there's nothing new, so I assume it'll fit on the way back. Wish me luck. Today was my last day at work and it was so strange. I couldn't believe it was actually over. I remember when I started my countdown to BC and it was like 90 some days...now it's tomorrow!!! It was sad. I feel like I bonded more with the people in the office in the last week than I did in the last 4 months. And as I was leaving, I had a conversation with the manager of the office about the term. She told me how pleased she was with my work and I made it clear that I would love to come back in the fall. She said they're going to be needing more staff around that time and I believe her exact words were, "they've told us we can overstaff, so we could start you as a term position to begin with." Keep your fingers crossed. I made sure I told everyone in the office how much I want to come back. In other news, I have found out who my roomies are for the summer...one girl from rural Ontario who's moving to the city for the first time, one girl from Germany and one from Texas. I've had emails from all of them and they seem nice enough. They're a bit younger than me, I think they're all in fourth year, but I do love younger guys, so maybe they'll help me meet them. haha. So, now I begin my adventures. I will do my best to keep you up to date on the BC adventures. Most definitely when I get back to TO I will post pics and such. Alright, off I go to finish up. I think the panic attack may have been averted somewhat. You all need to keep me up to date via the blog because I probably won't be on MSN much. Talk to you all soon.

Exams

Hey girls...I'm almost done!! 2 days and 6 hours until I get to celebrate!! Perhaps something like Kendra's "pub crawl" would be fun. I have one exam today at 2pm and then my last one is Friday! I don't have much to report...just thought I'd say hi. It was fun to see Michelle and Peggy on the weekend even if it was just a brief visit. I'm not sure I'll be able to make it home for the 25th because the flights are expensive. I may only get home Monday because I think we might have to take the train. :( I'd love to make it home for Shameless. Although I see they will be back the weekend Carolyn and I get back from Europe! Kendra and Pam, will you be home for the Festival of the Lights? Talk to you soon.

Storytime

All right ladies it's been awhile since I had a good story. Well this isn't really a good story but this is a funny cute story about my kids. So Monday there I am doing sex ed. for 7 year olds. We are talking about inappropriate touching and there are these cartoon characters on a big card and the questions for me to ask are written on the back of the card. So there I am and the card has a boy who had his hands on a little girl's buttocks. So anyway we discussed it and the word inappropriate. Then the question says who could this boy be. 1 little girl says he could be a bully. Good answer I say. Next little girl, could be a brother or a baby-sitter. Another great answer I say. So this little boy is sitting patiently with his hand raised and has been really good all day instead of his goofy self so I say yes. "Um he could be Micheal Jackson." No joke, as I said yes I put the card up over my face and started to laugh. What else could I do really? That's about it. Today we had to talk about a man touching a girls breast and 1 kid was like what's a breast? The question going through my mind was do I point to my own or what. Someone must have told him because he did figure it out, thank goodness. All right ladies have a great week. Way to go on getting super hung-over Foxy, Pam glad you saw Alyson, Lynds we'll be in touch, MC no matter what you wear to B.C. you'll have a great time and Marla you must be so excited to be almost done of exams. Give a shout if you're thinking about drink the barn dry.

What can I say today?

So, here I am on the Monday morning of my last week of work. I think it'd be more exciting if I had some stuff to work on. I went to my supervisor on Friday and asked her if she had anything else for me to do. Her response, "I don't think I have anything left for you." Well, that's fun. So, now I've got 5 days to kill, so if you're on MSN at all during the day, please talk to me. The upside...5 more sleeps to Vancouver.

This weekend Pegs and I went to Montreal for the night to visit the Lynds. The trip was fairly uneventful, but still a great time. Pegs and I did a bit of shopping while Lynds studies, then the three of us went for dinner and margaritas with Darcy and their neighbour Matt. After that watched Bridget Jones 2, and tried to sleep through the raging party they had next door. I slept through the yelling and singing for a couple hours until the music started around 2:15am. Thanks for the hospitality Lyndsay!

So, my plans for the week include packing, cleaning, wasting time at work, and packing some more. So much fun!!! Hope your weeks are all going to be more eventful than mine. Talk to you soon.

recovery is a bitch....

Hey ladies, I'm just giving an update as I spend the day recovering from last night. Went on a 'pub crawl' with some girls from work yesterday. We started at 2pm and had some lunch and then went on from there. Let's just say that I had a little bit too much to drink and I'm hurting a bit today. But had a great time. I hope that everyone else had a great weekend, and I'm going to be able to come home on june 25, so I'm looking forward to a shameless night at peakes and I hope that everyone else is too!! So now I think I"m going to have to drink about 4 gallons of water to rehydrate myself and quite possibly take a nap.

why bother with the weaker sex

So I am sitting here staring at the screen. I have come to a conclusion........... I am going to England in December meeting up with the only guy in the world who has treated me amazing (even if it is from a county and ocean away) and hopefully PEI will be my vacations.
I met a guy here in Vancouver we hung out and I stayed over at his house a few times.....then.....he tells me out of the blue that he is involved with someone back home!!!! What the heck is up with that??????
If I was involved with Dave I would not even be meeting new guys with the intent to get into any form of relationship past friendship. How do they do it? Was he thinking of her as he kissed me?
This is EXACTLY where girls and guys differ!
So I am now focusing on England (Leeds to be exact) I can't wait.
Michelle in one week you will be here, we are going to have the BEST TIME EVER!!!!!!!!!!

Peace ladies! Love yas all, Amanda

I thought of you in the shower today

What do you all think of that title? It's totally true though. This morning while showering I had the radio tuned in to the 80's at 8. And can you guess what Bruce Springfield song they played? That's right Jesse's Girl was playing and I was just like ah Peake's. Then I went to the rink to coach and then out to K-Town. And thought of you all again when I went to the Frosty Treat for an Ice Cream. Missed you so much I cried. No actually it was the first time I'd driven down that road since they burned down Uncle Ingham's house and seeing as that's the home my grand-mother was raised in, I did shed a tear while eating my ice cream. Lynds I did see the movie Sideways last night and at first we couldn't understand at all why you had said it was funny. But there was that hilarious part. The rest of it was just totally messed up and boring. All right ladies have a great weekend.
Love you all,
CT

LYNDSAY ...what a great idea!

I agree I think thats a great idea, if we could rent a cottage out in cavendish or something, some serious bonding time even if its for a couple of days. I know I would love it just b/c I never see you guys so I think it would be great. I know that when I stayed in the cottage (2 bedroom) in Cavendish last summer it was rather cheap...I was surprised! This is something that we should seriously think about. Or perhaps I could use my cottage you know how much fun that would be? I just think that if we do it in Cavendish or soemthing we could go to the boradwalk or the beach etc etc cause you know how michelle gets antsy when shes around us too long she may need a break! hahaha (just joking) and we could do thirsty's ....let me know I think thats the best idea yet!

Talk to you all real soon!

9 more days of hell

I'm studying for my exams. I have 3 next week and then this term will be all over! I was heading off to bed and thought I'd say hello since I haven't written in a long time.
I'm hoping to come home on the June 25th as well but I may have to wait a few days extra so I can get a cheaper flight. Michelle I'm impressed about the tan...maybe I'll test it out before I come home so I'll be tanned for the beach. It would be really fun if somehow we could rent a cottage for a few days while everyone is home (...or go to my trailer) for some bonding time.
Kendra and Pam...will you be home?? I hope so...it would be fun to all be home. Carolyn and Pam...looks like you had a fun night from the pics!
I'm looking forward to having a week off between exams and when my summer session starts during the last week of April. My friend Jane and I are going to Niagara Falls for 4 or 5 days. (We have a place to stay.) We're even going on a (cheap) wine tour in Niagara on the Lake. (We'll be in a van so no drinking and driving like in Sideways. Hopefully they'll be generous on the samples!) Have you guys seen Sideways?? If not, you should rent it. It's a mix of serious and funny. There is one part in particular that's hilarious!!

Ok...my bed is calling me. Love, Lynds xoxo

Feeling a little nauseous...

Anyone care to guess how much I just spent on a plane ticket to get home to Charlottetown for my summer break? Take a guess...I dare you. I'll give you a hint by telling you it was almost $200 more than my tickets to and from BC. That's right, I just paid a grand total of $610.07 of my very own, hard earned money to spend a little less than 10 days on our lovely little Island. Let me just say, it better be worth it!!! That's almost a month's rent. Sorry to rant, but it's just a little ridiculous if you ask me. I think that's about the same Bren is paying for his trip to the DR next week. But here's what I have to look forward to...1) the Girls (Foxy and Pam, I want you to come home too!!!) Amanda, I wish you were going to be there too, but I'll see you next week :) 2) the Festival of Lights for the first time in about 3 years 3) the beach (if there's some sort of weather miracle by then) 4) (and most importantly) Shameless at Peake's!!!! I'll be arriving at 10:23 am June 25, and leaving 6:40 pm July 4. So, that's it from me for now, but I'll leave you with a little countdown...7 days of work left, 10 days until I leave Ottawa for BC, and 73 days until I come home, and 4 months until I finish school and have to face the real world. Good times. Speaking of the real world, maybe I should do some work for the first time today. Talk to you all soon.

Fun As Always

Well I made it back to Halifax in one peice...even with the cops stopping me and all! Ok i'll explain, a cop pulled me over cause 1. i was speeding 2. my liscense plate was missing...don't know how that happened. Anyways he made me get out of the car and I was like holy shit! I didn't know that it was missing so I was freaking out inside thinking I was in major trouble. I think he realize that I really didn't know it was gone and let me go. When I got to work i had to call mom and tell her she had to call the cops in PEI incase it fell off there and they were like "call the cops!!??" Always a story!
Anyways I had a fun time in PEI it was "the night in waiting!" Waiting in line ups that is! Carolyn how are Jeff's teeth? Always a laugh.....with those boys...always! I hated to come back here! Anyways Thanks for the great time Tessier! Well I should get going there is a staff lunch today so I'll talk to you later

Spray Tanning

If any of you have ever considered getting a fake tan at one of the spray booths, I would highly recommend it. I went on Saturday, and I'm quite happy with the results. I was a little worried after they warned me to rub it in really well or there would be streaks, and that most people forget at least one part of their body the first time. Luckily for me, the only place I forgot was the tops of me feet, and I look like I've been walking through mud. Other than that, it's great. Step in the booth, turn around in a circle while it sprays you for 10 seconds, rub it all in and you're good to go. Just wanted to give you all a heads up. I know some people thought I was going to turn into an orange blob. Hope you all had a good weekend.

+2 degrees, bring on the capris!

That's right ladies spring has swept over C'town. Of course the snow is not yet gone but the temp did go up over 2 degrees today and so of course I saw so many people in sandals and capris at the Superstore. It was ridiculous. As for me I spent the entire weekend at the MacLauchlan Arena volunteering. It was actually a lot of fun but last night I was completely run off my feet. So I'm definitely looking forward to staying in bed on Saturday. Other news apparently there's stuff going on at the Wave Friday night so I'll definitely be heading there. I haven't been out in forever! Gotta jet ladies it's 11 and the little darlings will be raring to go in the morning.

Did anyone notice?

Just wanted to check and see if any of you at home noticed that Geordan Read was one of the top 10 finalists for the Canadian Idol competition on Magic 93. I was at the station's website for some reason yesterday and there was a picture and a list of names, and it was definitely him. Now, I remember back in frosh week oh so many years ago, we had a karaoke night, and I do believe I've got pictures of him and other Bluefield boys singing some Backstreet Boys. I remember he was pretty good. He's definitely got the look for it. Anyway, check out http://www.magic93.pe.ca/ and look at the Idol pics. Enjoy!

What a weekend

Well its been a busy one so far. On sat. I went to Rachels bday party (4 years old) and I was in charge of face painting so that was fun, interesting and tiring but fun. Then last night Sean and I went to see the Harleem Globtrotters! I bought the tickets back in November for his bday so we had front row seats center court. It was a laugh, something fun to take kids to but I laughed really hard!
The count down is on with the roommate, i'm out at the end of the month. She is still being more mean and rude and weird as ever. Anyways not my real friends here in Halifax I know that and thats the main thing.
Prob. going to be going home this weekend mom's bday is on the 6th and she is not doing well with the word on Bedford, hes not doing well...anyways so Carolyn I just may see you sooner then you expected.....if so another night at China Garden perhaps? Talk to you all soon

Love ya lots

What a weekend

going commercial

I had one of the greatest nights of my life lastnight and met the people I want to hang out with alot while i am in this amazing city! I went out with a guy I met over Lava Life (Jonny). He is from Sask. pretty much doing the same ol' thing I am in life. He invited me out with him and his friends lastnight. I ended up getting off work early and headed for the journey downtown! I called him from the skytrain station as I didn't know where he lived, and he picked me up with his friend Derrek. Derrek just got back from Oz, so we didn't shutup the whole night. We went to Jonnys' place for awhile. I met his roommate Brad before so at least I knew 3 people. There was about 7 or 8 of us there. I met a guy named Maday from Indo. He is dating one of Jonny's friends Michelle. Then another one of his friends Eddy, his g-friend was there and we ended up exchanging numbers and are going to the art museum soon. Bob is Jonny's bro and his girlfriend Lanny are just super! They are all so great and love to travel, and love the earth. We ended up going to a bar called Rime on Commercial Drive (the bohemian/market/cafe street in Vancouver). Rime is a little Turkish pub (they served Keiths), the hummus and eggplant were to die for. One of Jonny's friends Matt was the drummer in the band that was playing. The Golden Wedding Band is their name. Jazz/Swing........ everyone in the band plays a different instrument from drums, standup bass, trumpet, claranet to guitar! They had so much character. Jonny is great, I ended up chatting with his friends all night. I felt so included. We went back to Jonnys place chilled and watched some of The Aquatic Adventures of Steve Zouzou (think that is how it is spelt), anyway funny movie. Too bad I didn't get to see the ending................
This morning Jonny had to go sailing with his manager from work, so he woke me up before he left and said I could hang out there with Brad and Derrek! So I slept for abit longer then chilled with the guys. Brad is hillarious! He fell lastnight and scraped his fingers, I had to put bandaids on them so I picked out the brightest colors (blue and yellow), so when he woke up this morning he had no clue why there were wacky colored bandages on his fingers! They invited me for brunch and we went to Commercial Drive again!!!!! I am moving there. It is my home! I have already called some places and am going there tomorrow to pass out resumes. I think I will finish Mr. Mikes when Michelle gets here! And then move in May 1st to Commercial. It is right downtown so I could as well get the job at the surf store if it is still offered! My life is finally coming together (I hope and pray). Then during brunch Brad offered to drive me back to Poco on his MOTORCYCLE!!!!!!!! How fun! He wanted to have an excuse to drive it so of course! We got back in time for Jonny to get home so I got to see him before I left! :) The ride was so much fun, after awhile I forgot I was on a motorcycle!!!! I like the turns.
Come visit me in my element! Love, Amanda

Oh what a night

At least I made enough money today to pay for half of my haircut (which I love). I just hope that when I wash it and dry it is turns out the same!!!!!!!
Today was the worst day at work ever, I am so glad that I work with the most amazing people. Thursday night is the busiest night. BIG GROUPS of people come in and I was thrown right in the middle. I had 3 tables all night....sure sounds easy. One table was fine, the second was ok 9 guys and they loved me so they were nice (one was super cute shoulda gave him my #) but then the table of 18 came in, all at different times, and they moved around. This was hell. I don't ever want to go to hell again, please don't send me there :( At the end I went around and said.....what did you order making up bills and sending them on their not so merry way. I probally would have made a killing if I would have been more organized and told them to sit in their seat and shut the FU*K UP. I was crying in the middle of it. That was how bad it was. I was so overwhelmed.
But then to end my night, I relized after all that...... i made crap all in tips, I'm guessing because I had no clue what I was doing!!!!!!!!
Please pray that I never have to go through that again, I would rather be working at McD's again!!!! Seriously.
Chad and I flirted today (hehehe). I know he has a girlfriend but he is so great. He was getting a water and I needed the fountain gun. I was kidding and said " You are so slow", then he preceeded to try and pick out the "perfect icecube", he said he was looking for one shaped like a heart (ah cutey). I then picked one up and said "found it!" , and shoved it down the front of his shirt! We had a moment, it was great!
I will go to bed now and pretend nothing bad happened! Sweet Dreams (about Chad).

Allo Paris

Well ladies, the Lynds and I finally booked our tickets to Europe. PS The Lynds and I are going to Europe! It's kind of funny really considering I hadn't really thought of going in about a month or so and now I already have my plane ticket. It all started when I got back from Ottawa. No cuties on the plane this time :( So then Lynds came over Monday night and asked if Peggy and I were still planning on going. I said no and she said did you want to come with me? And that's that we are now going on an 18 day tour of Europe which I think will be quite fun. The Lynds also picked me up at lunch time yesterday and we went down the road to the Tim's parking lot to eat the bagels she'd brought out. Long story short the car battery died and I was sitting in a car in the pourring rain having a fit because my students were presently in the class room unsupervised. By the time I got back to the school some of the kids had themselves convinced I'd been in a car accident. They understood when I explained though and were actually pretty good for the afternoon. That's about all for me to report. I will be living at the rink for this weekend as it's a big National Competition. Who knows maybe I'll meet a really hot straight figure skater... Also the Easter season has come and gone and although I didn't see much of the Easter Bunny I did get strange word from a chicken yesterday.

Michelle is drunk!

Oh my God! Actually Michelle keeps telling me t hat I'm drunk but funny enough I can still type better than her. Well we had a very entertaining evening. It started when Jamie Coady said he would like to come out with us. (To be referred to as JC from this point on) He came over to Michelle's place (after missing the bus) and we drank for awhile. It was fun discussing home. Ofcourse the closure ofMyrons was way upo on the list. So then we headed down to the dirty lawyer to meet Emily andh er friends. It was actually a lot of fun, and keeping the me and Lydnsay tradition alive I managed to show them how a Maritijme girl drinks. It was a lot of fun I must say and this time I wasn't nearly as drunk as the last time Iwas out inOttawa. That's about it from our end. Michelle aND i have had some fun drinking and shopping and I must say that her roomate hearts me. I love vyou all and Ihope that you all had as good of an Easter weekend as I did. Of course I will be seeing the Lynds the day after tomorrow or technically tomjorrow what the fuck Michelle. And I anticipatesome great conversationt with perhaps a little less liquor. I love you all and peace out as I must put drunk Micherlle to bed now.

The Best of Times & The Worst of Times...

Well it was great to go back home and have one last visit and see one last fight outside! Oh well....can't wait to see what the new one looks like. Had a great and funny time at China Garden afterwards with Carolyn and the lads! Too funny....anyways just thought I would drop a line give my two cents worth on what i thought of this discussion!
Hope Ontario is having fun with you ladies there

RIP Myron's

Well, to everyone from the Island who reads the blog I would like to announce that as of March 24, 2005 Myron's Restaurant and Bar is no more. Let us take a moment to remember the place we all knew and loved...

An unnamed source, we'll call him TT, was dining at said establishment at lunch on the 24th, when the Chief of Police came in, asked everyone to leave, shut it down and locked the doors.

Hard to believe that none of us will every darken Myron's doors ever again. I think I feel a tear.

So, we just wanted to let everyone know the latest. Let me know what you think.

MC and CT

Can't believe it

wow...I can't believe that morons is closing for a while...ya know I have had a real love/hate relationship with that place, love it when I'm there but hate the thought of going...I'm a little out of date with the news these days, I have been having some problems with my computer. Good to hear that you're going to be home for Easter Lynds, but I unfortunately will be working the entire weekend. Happy Easter to me. Hope that you're having a great time in Ottawa CT and MC, have some drinks for me and do lots of shopping. Nothing real new or exciting to report from me. Hope everyone is doing well.

I can't believe the rumors are true...

Apparently Moron's has come into some pretty serious financial trouble. Word on the street is that my cousin's representing people in a suit against Myron's for money they're owed. It is very sad. I was reading a travel guide on the Maritimes awhile ago, and when they described the Charlottetown bar scene, they mentioned it was dominated by Myron's. It's funny because when I went out with my dad and Jonathan on Friday night, we were discussing the demise of Myron's, and when I told CT about it yesterday she didn't believe me. I also feel a tear sliding down my cheek in mourning. Charlottetown will not be the same. That's it for me. Nothing exciting to report from my weekend. CT will be here in 3 more sleeps and BC a month from Wednesday. Can't wait.

Love, MC

Sob sob

I can't believe Myron's is closing!! Yes I do enjoy Peake's more but think of all the Myron's memories! Why would they sell it and give up their winter-bar monopoly. Kendra and Pam will you be home this weekend?? Darc and I found cheap tickets so we're going home for Easter. Yippee! Our families were getting sad that we weren't going to be home until summer. I'll be home from this Friday to next Wednesday. I'm very excited to have a break from school although I do have to write a big paper while I'm home. :( Have fun in Otown Carolyn! Can't wait to see all your purchases when you get back. Perhaps we could go for some Margaritas on Monday. mmm.
Love, Lyndsay

The End of Good Times

Literally! You know 'good times at Myrons.' Ladies Myrons is officially closing the end of the month. That's what my cab driver told me last night and makes sense as the place really wasn't very busy the past few times I've been there. PS The cab was called for us by a 10 year old child working the door at China Garden. Anyway according to my cab driver the people who own the Liquor Dome have bought Myrons and are closing it the end of the month. They're going to shut down for 3 months to do renovations and make the downstairs a restaurant, the main floor the bar and the top floor a private functions place. Don't really know how different that is from the way it is now but still ladies it is the end of an era. Of course as I said to the cab driver, the end of the month I really won't care because Peake's opens and then I won't even think about Myrons again. But you know as Pam and I went on the upstairs dance floor with all those 15 year olds last night it took me back to when we were young and bustin' a move on that very same dance floor. (tear) But at least Peake's is open. Foxy you should try and get some time off for Canada Day, it looks like we're all going to be here, possibly Pam too. It could be so much fun, I only told Pam how much fun it was about 15 times last night. That's it for me ladies hope you're all having a great weekend and Michelle and Peggy I will be seeing yas soon.

Didn't quite have the Luck of the Irish today

Today started out great, minus the not hearing back from hot Whistler guy that I was suppose to do the Grouse Grind with yesterday. Yeah it sounds dirty, but it is just a hike up Grouse Mountain. It is approx. 2.9 kms and takes the average person about 1.5hrs to do. The guy I was suppose to meet (from Lavalife, you guessed it) is training for a triathlon in July, that would have been a sight to see! He ended up getting called into work, and wanted to hang out today. He didn't call (boo hoo).
Went out to lunch with my cousin and her friend, got it paid for by their company (sweet). Did some shopping, and bought a stellar pair of green shoes (thought I would celebrate St.Paddy's Day that way). Then trugged to work!
Started of fine, until I went to get two steins/sleeves (long glasses) of beer for one of my tables........... Amanda the Clutz dropped the two big glasses as soon as she lifted them out of the fridge! They made such a loud noise the WHOLE restaurant looked at me. The worst part was I had to remove all the steins and wash them then replace them! I can laugh at it now, although I find little humour in it what so ever.
I am going out tomorrow night with Monique, so I am sure I will have some stories to tell! Then I have a lunch date on Sat. with another lad from Lavalife. I just think there are so many hot guys out here! Not saying that they are all perfect, most of them are prob. jerks. However it is great to look and dream..........

My attempt at a CT-worthy story

Again...I'm in the middle of studying for a damn test. And this time it's a final exam because it's a condensed course. I was kind of pretending that it was a midterm and not trying to stress until I woke up Sunday morning hungover. That's when Darcy asked how much the test was worth and I heard myself say out loud "70%"!!! That's when I got scared. It didn't help that he said "then why did you go out?" Oops. Oh well it was fun. Plus the liquor helped take the edge off my back pain (I'll get to that later). Saturday night there was a St. Patrick's Day party at Thompson house (grad house/bar) which is really close to us. So Darcy, me, Matt, Julie, Jane, Jeff (Jane's bf) decided to go. They all came over here before for a little predrinking :) and snacks. I decided to be cute and have green themed foods (thank God I didn't get sick later!) such as guacomole, tostitos lime flavour (I recommend), mint oreo cookies, limes, and green candies (not exactly the most appetizing combo of foods but it looked festive.) Ok there was also pita, hummus, pretzels and dip...everything can't be green. Although I did think of using some green food dye but decided against it. I should also mention that we were all dressed in bright green. This is something that became much funnier when we arrived at Thompson house to find no one else in green. Jane, Julie and I were also wearing Shamrock crowns...I will put a pic on here when I get them from Julie. The night went by pretty fast...thanks to my good old friend raspberry twist vodka. haha.
And now for my back incident. Now I pride myself on being quite flexible but Thursday night this worked against me. Darcy was sitting on a chair and I came up behind him (I was actually pretending to strangle him). Then he decided to pull me over his shoulder...except that instead of just part of my body coming over....somehow my whole body flipped over the chair and I landed on my back. Would have been kind of cool if it didn't hurt so much. So I've become best friends with my heating pad and some muscle relaxants (don't worry didn't mix them with the liquor). It's feeling better but not back to normal. Wish I knew someone with a hot tub!

Ok that is all my excitement. Except that it is actually starting to feel like Spring here and I think a pigeon is making our balcony his home.

My Near Death Experience

This is a good one. So, Trev got home last night at 4:00am, which is fine. Not sure if he was working or partying, but judging from the number of times I heard him bumping into the box of beer bottles in the kitchen, I'd say he was partying. I could hear him bumping and clanging around in the kitchen, and he was only in there for a couple minutes, so I figured he just got a drink and went to bed.

Around 6:00am I woke up to the smell of burning. I could also hear noises coming from the kitchen so I thought maybe Trev hadn't gone to sleep yet and was up again cooking. The noises continued, along with the burning smell...it smelled like when you turn on the oven really high and leave it on with nothing in it...and when the sounds and smell didn't stop at all, I decided to get up and check out the scene in the kitchen.

This is what I saw...a pot with 2 hot dogs in it, thick black burned on stuff stuck to the bottom of the pot and the burner up on maximum. The sounds was the popping and crackling of the hot dogs on the bottom of the pot. Only a matter of time before the mess burst into flames. My hypothesis as to what happened is this...he got home, put some hot dogs in a pot of water to boil at 4:00 when he got home, went in his room and forgot about them and/or fell asleep. It must have taken a couple hours before the water all evaporated and the dogs started to burn. I could have killed him.

Now, I ignored when he left the oven on all night, or the other two times he left burners on overnight with nothing on them, but this one can't be ignored. I would not have enjoyed being woken up by the fire alarm, and the smokiness was getting near that point when I woke up and turned on the fan. I don't know how his g/f can handle it. Anyway, when I get home, Trev and I have to have a little talk and perhaps make a rule that he's not allowed to use the stove/oven after midnight.

As for the rest of the weekend, Saturday afternoon Pegs, Hugh, Shannon and I went bowling, then had dinner, drank at my place and went to the Honest Lawyer. It's a cool bar. There are all kinds of video games, and a mini bowling alley. We were supposed to meet Jamie and his friends there and they finally arrived about an hour and a half after planned. Apparently the cab drivers had gone on strike. So we only hung out with them for about 10 minutes before we left. Yesterday Hugh made a turkey dinner and we were joined by Peggy's brother and sister-in-law who's about ready to pop with their baby. She's due on Thursday. So, that was it. No real plans for the week and my dad's going to be here this weekend, so I'd say it'll be pretty low key.

This is getting to be really long, so I'll end it here and try to sctually do some work here today. That'll be something different. Hope you all had good weekends.

in the crack

I had a boring weekend (well for me anyway). I didn't have any shifts so I decided to "detox" and tell my body I still love it. Rented some movies and baked a cake on Friday night. Sat. I went to my cousins' baseball practice and sat in the nice sunshine (sorry to make you jealous). Then on Saturday night I prepared for a night of sitting on my be-hind. It lasted one hour and I was pacing the floors. Thank heavens for lava life and one of the guys called me for drinks. We went to The Cambie. It is a bar in a hostel. I felt like I was back in Oz. I was so happy, and Jonny (the guy from lava) was quite goodlooking! Michelle I can't wait to take you to The Cambie. Had a couple of drinks (they have Keiths on tap). There was one guy there with pants on so low that they kept sliding down and his crack was right there! For all to see! I tried to take a butter knife and drop it in, but he turned just as I was over it. That sucked as Jonny was going to give me 5$. Ah well it was funny while it lasted. Then Jonny and his roomate walked me to my bus stop and we waited for my bus. Nice blokes! Jonny is abit winey (all Jonnys are I suppose hehehe).
Today I did some housecleaning as I had a Frappachino Saturday and my stomach exploded! No going for a hike for me! The weather was beautiful. I was raking leaves in shorts and a t-shirt (again sorry to make you jealous). Ya gotta get out here everyone!
Hope you all had great weekends! Amanda

Come on people, someone must have an exciting life!

All right ladies, come on! I desperately need to live vicariously through one of you. I know I know, you're saying but Carolyn you're the one who has crazy nights and has stories for us. Nope, let me tell you about my weekend. Friday as I mentioned I spent the entire evening doing Canskate report cards and watching TGIF. I finally finished the report cards a little after 12. Saturday I went to the rink until 12, coldest day ever. Came home had a shower and got into bed to try and get warm and stayed there until about 3 o'clock when I went to get groceries and rent a movie. Rented First Daughter and watched it with my mom. This morning I went to the rink at 10:30 and got home about 30 minutes ago. Good news, lots of passes and this is my last week until Spring School. And I love spring school so I'm in the home stretch now. So that's it, nothing exciting at all. This Friday marks the beginning of my March Break. Pam you should so come over and Kendra is also coming home although I don't think she's coming until Sunday. Still we could go out this weekend, it would be a lot of fun. So let me hear what you guys did this weekend!!

Lonesome in the library

Don't worry girlies- it will all be better when we get out of these damn winter blues! Well, most of you are probably doing a lot better than me right now! Here it is on Friday night- I am getting ready to spend the rest of my night studying... how pathetic. Even if I was to get an offer to go anywhere I am too much of a nerd to say yes because I know that next week at school will be insane. Also, I have to go to a birthday party tomorrow night for someone that I barely know. So I say "boo weekends!" I can't wait until summer! Especially when Peake's opens! So, try and have a good weekend and I will hopefully have an interesting posting if I go out tomorrow (mind you, I am praying for a storm... yes, so I can stay home and study... and here we go again with my boring life!!) For now, I dream of sunshine, cute flip flops and itty bitty tank tops, and of course, ice cream.... Marla :)

Lonesome in C-town

I'm a 24 year old brunette who's always up for some fun and enjoys long walks on the beach. Oops that was meant for Lava Life not the blog ;) Joking, not at that stage yet. Well Michelle I haven't lost interest in the blog I check it every day after the kids leave for home but I don't bother writing because my life is crap. Not really it's just very boring right now for me. Last weekend was insane. I spent the entire weekend at Pownal arena except Saturday morning when I was at Simmons. It was awesome at the end of the day we brought in the top club award, I had kids win 4 events and none of my kids did worse than 6th which was aweosme. Just made for a really long weekend and I didn't feel at all like I had a break. Then this week went by pretty fast but by this afternoon I was fried so if you had driven by my class room at 2:15 you would have seen 25 darlings, including myself, plastered to the window. We were watching a movie when one kids was over by the curtain and saw an eagle flying over the school. She told me and I must be honest I didn't believe her. She took me over and sure enough there it was and it was gorgeous so we watched it for a good 5 minutes. That's about it, 4 more days of teaching before the March Break!! This weekend though I'm doing absolutely nothing. I have Canskate report cards going hoe tomorrow so I need to get those done and sometime this weekend I'd like to rent Ladder 49. That's basically it. Can't wait to go visit Michelle and Peggy. I'm planning on shopping until I drop! Hope everyone has a great weekend!
Love you all,
CT

No more Cali :(

Hi everyone,

Seems people have been losing interest in the blog. No one's posted lately. Just wanted to write to express my sadness because Amanda and I aren't going to Cali anymore. I actually sat down this morning and figured out exactly how much it was going to cost, and it was just way too much for either of us. Instead, we're going to see who we can recruit to come to Tofino on Vancouver Island with us for a few days instead. Still fun, still surfers, just a lot less money. It still makes me sad though. But, I guess it will give me more quality time with the people I'm going out there to see. On a side note, I'm pissed with Jets Go. Luckily my tickets weren't with them, but I did have a $235 credit with them from the flight I cancelled at Christmas that I was going to use to come home in the summer...guess I'm never going to see that again. I feel so bad for the people who are stranded with their kids in Florida or somewhere for March Break, or who were planning to go next week. I would be unbelievably pissed. Anyway, that's all I've got to say. Hope the rest of you post again soon. I miss hearing what you're all up to. Talk to you later.

Back to the Land of the Living...sort of

Hello all,

Well, after a weekend of pure misery, I am back at work, and I can't say it makes me feel that much better. I have been sick since last Wednesday and it's starting to clear up slowly but surely. Started with a super sore throat and Saturday night the nasty little virus decided to move up into my face and take over my sinuses. Good times. Did nothing all weekend except watch a couple of movies while house/cat sitting. Chatted with the Lynds on the phone Saturday night for a couple hours, and that was about the most exciting thing I did besides my cross city trek to Wal-Mart. I spent all day yesterday in bed watching my soaps :) My nose miraculously stopped running around 6 last night and I slept well for the first time all week.

This weekend Shannon is coming up to visit Pegs for their March Breaks. We've got big plans for Saturday that include beer, bowling, food, more beer and a bar. Should be fun. She'll be here all next week, then my dad will be here next weekend, and CT arrives the week after that for Easter. It's going to be a jam packed few weeks and I can't wait. When CT leaves me it'll be less than a month until I leave Ottawa. Time is going so fast! I can't believe I've been here for over 2 months already. Okey doke, I should get going here. Just thought I'd let everyone know I'm still alive. Hope your weekends were more exciting than mine.

MC

PS - I heart my ipod!

Hugging Frankenriter

Lastnight seemed like the longest night of my life. Long but good however.... It all started off when Jody (guy Michelle and I met in Byron) picked myself and Monique up for the Donavan Frankenriter concert in the city. We got 3 blocks from Mo's place and the car DIED!! Yep Gonzo!!! So we got help to push it out of the way. Some random guy came back with tools to help (along with his g-friend who looked like someone from Children of the Corn). No luck with the car, or trying to get the girl to smile :( Oh yeah Mo and I were pretty stoned, so this was all funny. We have pics to prove all this, as soon as I get them and figure out how to post pics I will show. Called a tow truck, hung out at a 7-11 for 45mins then we were on our way to the concert via Skytrain (gotta love public transit). We arrived at the venue just in time. Caught an hour of the show (missed the opener, but I saw them at the Xavier Rudd concert anyways). After the unbelieveable concert Donavan came down into the crowd, and did a meet and greet! Such a wonderful guy. We got a photo with him and he hugged me when I told him I saw him surf in Newcastle! Top notch dude.
Then we headed to a bar called The Cellar. There was some band that sounded like Sublime/Mighty Mighty Bosstones playing. Everyone was dancing like the running man but kicking their feet out further. Can't beat 'em, join em'!
Headed back towards the Skytrain station after having a fake snowball fight at the bar (bouncers included) only to find on Sundays the station closes early. We had to take a bus as close as we could to Mo's place then cab it the rest of the way $$$ is draining fast, but the times are worth it all!!!!
I heart Vancouver! Amanda

Day 8.....still no talking

Well its another day in Halifax and I'm stilling living with the bitch! Life is great! I worked last night which was fine b/c it kept me out of the house and I have a staff party which should be fun tonight. Last night everyone went down to this new gym that does stripping classes (you don't actually take your clothes off though) its just like pole dancing excerise class...anyways I didn'tget to go and then when I talk to everyone they tell me I should go next time. Well i said i would since I was the one who researched the whole thing ,....but then they tell me Lindsay was going, nice eh? So obviously I'm not going as long as she is, we still haven't said a word to each other, yet she surprisingly talks to Sean all the time in such a sweet tone (never happened like that before)....anyways I'm ready to turn myself into unit 9...I swear I'm having a break down! I hate this girl so much she is killing me! Anyways I guess I deserve what I got myself into since everyone told me not to move in with her and I still did. FUCK!

The Chad

Another day another dollar! Today was my eight hour shift at Mr's.... I decided to stay and help out after my tables were done, as Thursday nights are quite busy. And....... of course there is an alterior motive.....a boy! There is this guy named Chad and he works in the kitchen, pure heaven in a chef hat! For the last couple of weeks I have been in awe of him, and I have been wondering why. Then today as he was changing in the staff room (shirt off ladies) I saw the resemblance! Eddie Francis.... dreamy. He is alot more musclar and hides his nice side more than Eddie. He is the strong silent type. I'm very attracted to Chad. He even gave me 2$ for the bus tonight, as i forgot to make change. How sweet. I'm sure he has a girlfriend, but some "inter-office" flirting is A-ok with me :)
Peace, Amanda

Fucking HORRIBLE Day

Okay I had the worst day ever today. I was working, and first of all I really didn't want to get up this morning, but that's par for the course every day I work. The unit was absolutely insane. and my patients were crazy, well two of the five mothers I had....then to top it all off, two of my baby's wouldn't feed. I went from room to room to room, and one of my patients must have rang her buzzer 35 times today if she rang it once. I really thought I was going to go crazy, and I almost did. I got one 20 minute break in my whole shift. Some days I just feel like a really bad nurse, because I just couldn't do everything for everyone, and it makes it worse when the patients will not do anything to help themselves.....okay, I think my rant is over for the time being, but I have to go back tomorrow night and I may have another rant after that....I hate working some times...

Sigh of relief

Yippee! I just finished my midterm osce test. WeIt was pretty stressful but went pretty well. :) My friends and I have been taking turns practicing at each other's places. Last night a bunch of girls were over here. Food has become a huge part of our studying. Luckily we've managed to make studying fun. I've been studying like crazy this week because I did nothing over break. I finally had a Spring Break and not a damn reading week. Darcy and I had such a great time with his sisters. (Darc didn't actually have a break but kind of made his own.) We did a lot of touristy things that we hadn't done yet. I think we saw a sloth at the Biodome. That was exciting. Other than school...I'm looking forward to St. Patty's day. It's huge here!! I can't wait. That weekend is already all booked. Darc and I are going to watch the Incredibles now. Miss you all!
Love, Lynds

One of these days I'll be positive

I really feel like this is my way to vent! So if you decide not to read on I totally understand its just cheaper then thearpy! I had a terrible weekend, drank on sat. night after work and something happened to me I don't know may have been that I didn't really eat all day but I was beyond, so much so they wouldn't let me into the bar downtown. Scary stuff I came home obviously! Got sick and was sick every hour on sunday till 6pm from 9am! Fun day? I think so . Not to mention that I got a lovely phone call from Lindsay on sunday morning from the bar stating she hoped that I had enough courage to say everything to hear face that I said behind her fucking back! Nice (we still haven't talked and i don't know what someone told her or who it was that told her soemthing that I said...frankly I don't care) But its not a nice living situation, needless to say Sean has been great through all of this and I can't wait to move out! Does anyone blame me? I think i'm taking a bit of a little cold but I really think its stress endouced! oh well.....sometimes I wonder what things would be like if i never moved in with her....oh yea they would be great! My mistake! Your stories on here are great ....put a smile on me old face! Talk to you later

Pam

Papers up my ass....

So, I am sitting here going back and forth between three papers that are all due within the next 48 hours. What is wrong with me? I am such a procrastinator. Is anyone else getting to the point where they could fall asleep just about anywhere that is relatively comfortable due to lack of sleep? I am beginning to forget how much I hated being in the real world working full-time... The worst part is, I gave up drinking pop and eating sweets, so I don't even have those to get me through.... I need a fix... sometimes I wish I did speed to keep me awake. haha No, I don't really wish that. Anyone have some realistic, helpful suggestions to get me through this very long night that I am about to endure? Sorry Carolyn, looks like my big ol' butt will be sitting here at my computer rather than working it at UFit tonight.

Later girls, Marla

P.S. Did anyone watch the Bachelorette last night? I have to admit, Jerry is one very sexy man!
