Happy Turkey Day

Hey ladies,
Just thought I'd give you girls something to look at on here for a change. Unfortunately my class is so good that I really don't have any stories. But I do have one of those why classes. They constantly ask me why. Why is that compostable and that isn't? What do we do with compost? Where does it go? Why are the leaves green? And here's a good one. In discussing the four food groups last week I told them about how there were alternatives to meat and that I didn't eat meat. I also did stress to them that I did eat fish and tofu and eggs and peanut butter so that I still ate things from that group. On Friday I read them a book about the environment and they asked why we'd help the animals when they eat us. And I said but we eat the animals and 3 little girls said I don't I'm a vegetarian like you. Oh shit!! So far no parents have contacted me to demand why their child has stopped eating meat but the year is still early!

So far things I've learned this year:
You can never over-prepare for a fire drill. This year's class was much better and did not do any sommersaults but I did realize that the little girl I chose to shut off the lights can't reach the light switch and was therefore jumping at the lights in the class while the rest of the school headed outside.

Don't under any circumstances tell the kids you are a vegetarian!

The class doesn't notice that I'm tone deaf because they all are too for the most part. The other day they drowned out O Canada and weren't even with the music, we finished a couple seconds ahead of the tape.

Kids are incredible and they hang onto every word I say.

It's probably not as perfect as I make it seem. Sometimes I realize I've been speaking too fast and they didn't understand a word I just said. Sometimes they are all saying Madame at once and I don't feel like I can get to them all. But for the most part I'm having a blast.

Oh and another good story. Yesterday Rammer and I ran our first Canpower session together. I actually did pretty good in my hockey skates and with my hockey stick! All right ladies gotta go have desert but hope you had a nice long weekend and hope to hear from you all soon.

Saturday night in Ctown

Hello ladies,
I know it's been awhile since I postedon here. I hope you're all doing great. It's Saturday night and Michelle and I are at her place getting ready to watch a dvd on her laptop. Not much new here we're taking the weekend off. We were out both Friday and Saturday night last weekend. Nothing too exciting though except me ratting out this guy for busting a light then racing tomy bro's side so he'd protect me even though he was a tad loaded.

Thing in m y classroom are going good. Our first fire drill went off without a hitch!! The kids aer amazing during an indoor recess when I walk back to the class the other teachers don't look at me with pity on their faces. Instead it's more like envy. I did learn one very important thing Thursday though. Never give children honey on a stick outside of a bee house. Thisdid cause somem nervousness. Oh well it's all with the territority.
Later,k
