Interview

Hey Ladies,

How's it going? Everyone getting excited for Christmas? CT and I were thinking that perhaps we could all get together the afternoon of Friday Dec 23. We were thinking maybe we could do lunch then hang out for awhile. Sweet potato fries at the Pilot House might be good...yum. We'll all be home then, I have that afternoon off of work, and I don't think most of us have family plans in the afternoons. It could be the ideal timing.

Also, I had a job interview today with the Chalmers Research Group who does the clinical trials at the Children's Hospital in Ottawa. I think it went well and I'll find out on Friday if I've got it or not. It seems like a good place to get into where I'd have the opportunity to move up within the company as I get more experience. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

I should go since I'm at work, but I just wanted to put out that idea for our get together. Let me know what you think. Can't wait to see everyone :) Miss you lots.

Love,
MC

RENT!!

I went to Rent yesterday with Jane and Julie. It was so good!!! Kendra, have you seen it yet??? You will not be disappointed! I hope it's still out at Christmas because I can't wait to go again. I'm now listening to the songs over and over while I write my paper.

Chloe discovering snow

Hallowe'en - better late than never

I forgot to write about Hallowe'en. We went to the same place as last year but I didn't win any prizes this time. I was Wilma Flintstone, Jane was Glinda (from Wizard of Oz) and Julie was Tinkerbell. Darcy didn't go because he was studying for a midterm. There were some crazy costumes. One girl was a vibrator and she actually vibrated. Then there was a guy dressed as Michealangelo's David. He was only wearing a g-string and had white paint all over himself! You can see some pics on the website. (http://www.pgss.mcgill.ca/PHOTOALBUM/)
Lynds
(Yes...I dyed my hair bright red. Luckily the colour eventually came out.)

Hallowe'en - Wilma and Pebbles
I need a little break from work so thought I'd post a hello. I don't have many blog-worthy stories because I feel like all I do is school work. rrr. I finish classes next week! Yippee!! Yikes...that means I have to write 2 term papers in the next two weeks. :( I even skipped one of my classes this morning to work on two other papers.
What has everyone been up to lately? Do you know what happens tomorrow???? RENT is released! I'm so excited. I'm planning to go Friday night with some friends to celebrate our last clinical day for the semester. I hope it's still out at Christmas because I think I will need to see it multiple times. It might be hard to hold back from singing. I went to see Walk the Line on the weekend with Darcy. It was so good! It even made me cry in a couple of parts.
I'm trying to think of what else is new. I went to a free Black Eyed Peas concert a little while ago. Best Buy had this concert to celebrate the opening of 5 new stores in MTL. There were contests to get tickets. Jane's friend got us tickets. It was a lot of fun but I also felt like I was in a Best Buy cult. There were Best Buy lights, Best Buy banners, and Best Buy employees doing Best Buy chants handing out Best Buy flyers. I guess the brainwashing didn't work because I have yet to step in any of the MTL stores.
Has anyone heard Madonna's new CD? I love it. I had saved part of my itunes gift certificate for it. :)

Miss you,

Lynds xo

Mrs. Robert Ghiz

For all of you who don't get to read the Guardian on a daily basis, just thought I'd let you know that Kate Ellis is engaged to Robert Ghiz. Apparently it was a slow news day, because there was the announcement along with a pic of them and an inset pic of her ring on the front page of the paper this morning. Just thought it was an interesting little tidbit to share.

Michelle and Piaza Joe's finally call a truce

Ok ladies come on. Life must be at least half interesting so you could drop a line from now and then. As for us MC and I went out for our ritual Friday night supper. It was my week to pick and I chose Piaza Joe's. Well to start off our waiter was none other than the UPEI keeper who scored the goal during Sunday's game. He came over to the table to say Good evening and MC went Hello, good day I mean good evening ech I can't talk. I swear my face went red for her she was so embarassing. So then when he came back I was like we just wanted to say how awesome you played last weekend. Luckily MC quickly said she's Tess's brother to take the "why are you stalking me?" look off his face. Then of course she was like i mean sister oh my God I can't talk. I swear her face was like purple. So then we had an absolutely awesome meal that we both loved and came back here. So here it is 7 years later and MC finally like Piaza Joe's. Now here's for a good story. Does everyone remember the time MC took the pen to Peake's and wrote on her leg in the bathroom so she wouldn't forget? Of course we all remember that moment. So MC went to trivia on Wednesday night and was talking to Sean Kidd. In talking Saul said to her "Well you're (looks her up and down) mildly attractive." It gets better. So MC goes to the bathroom at the Wave, goes in the stall, and takes a video of herself repeating what he says into her digital camera. Now MC I'm not laughing at you but we're all definitely laughing with you. Oh good times. Anyway love to hear what the rest of you are up to.

Adventures in grade 2

That's right ladies it's story time. So gather round, sit on your bums so the people behind you can see. That's it. Where to begin, I have had strep throat for a total of 10 days now and it's still not under control. My voice now fades in and out and I'm coughing like crazy. I finishedv parent teacher interviews last week and a lot of the parents asked if I wanted them to send stuff for Halloween. After last years 7 different kinds of cookies I mostly hinted that I didn't want treats coming in. I got 4 different kinds of cookies, cupcakes, candy and microwave popcorn. Now I was able to spread all of those things out not too bad throughout the day. The crisis, you know there's always a crisis when we're talking about me, came right around lunchtime. I put the microwave popcorn in the microwave and just after it started popping the bell rang so I went back to meet the kids. Told them to get their lunches and settle down and headed back to the kitchen. As I'm walking I['m going shit what's that smell. I got to the kitchen and I swear it was smokey, I'm amazed I didn't set off the fire alarm. The bag actually had a black mark that looked like it had been on fire. Obviously we didn't eat it. Went back to class and there was an announcement asking that anyone who did not know how to microwave popcorn should come to the office for a little lesson. My class strongly encouraged me to go. Then the kid who brought it opened his lunch and he had another bag of popcorn. So I went and popped it, we ate it and sent the rest to the office as proof I did know how to make popcorn. All right ladies that's it for me, hope this gives you a little laugh.

Halloween

Hi Ladies,

Just wanted to post a few pics from Halloween. CT and I had a great time at the Halloween/Bon Voyage Brendan party at Queen St. Yeah, not much else to say...a picture's worth a thousand words. For some reason after I loaded the pics, the formatting of the blog went all weird. I'm going to try to fix it, but if I can't, I apologize.

Happy Turkey Day

Hey ladies,
Just thought I'd give you girls something to look at on here for a change. Unfortunately my class is so good that I really don't have any stories. But I do have one of those why classes. They constantly ask me why. Why is that compostable and that isn't? What do we do with compost? Where does it go? Why are the leaves green? And here's a good one. In discussing the four food groups last week I told them about how there were alternatives to meat and that I didn't eat meat. I also did stress to them that I did eat fish and tofu and eggs and peanut butter so that I still ate things from that group. On Friday I read them a book about the environment and they asked why we'd help the animals when they eat us. And I said but we eat the animals and 3 little girls said I don't I'm a vegetarian like you. Oh shit!! So far no parents have contacted me to demand why their child has stopped eating meat but the year is still early!

So far things I've learned this year:
You can never over-prepare for a fire drill. This year's class was much better and did not do any sommersaults but I did realize that the little girl I chose to shut off the lights can't reach the light switch and was therefore jumping at the lights in the class while the rest of the school headed outside.

Don't under any circumstances tell the kids you are a vegetarian!

The class doesn't notice that I'm tone deaf because they all are too for the most part. The other day they drowned out O Canada and weren't even with the music, we finished a couple seconds ahead of the tape.

Kids are incredible and they hang onto every word I say.

It's probably not as perfect as I make it seem. Sometimes I realize I've been speaking too fast and they didn't understand a word I just said. Sometimes they are all saying Madame at once and I don't feel like I can get to them all. But for the most part I'm having a blast.

Oh and another good story. Yesterday Rammer and I ran our first Canpower session together. I actually did pretty good in my hockey skates and with my hockey stick! All right ladies gotta go have desert but hope you had a nice long weekend and hope to hear from you all soon.

Saturday night in Ctown

Hello ladies,
I know it's been awhile since I postedon here. I hope you're all doing great. It's Saturday night and Michelle and I are at her place getting ready to watch a dvd on her laptop. Not much new here we're taking the weekend off. We were out both Friday and Saturday night last weekend. Nothing too exciting though except me ratting out this guy for busting a light then racing tomy bro's side so he'd protect me even though he was a tad loaded.

Thing in m y classroom are going good. Our first fire drill went off without a hitch!! The kids aer amazing during an indoor recess when I walk back to the class the other teachers don't look at me with pity on their faces. Instead it's more like envy. I did learn one very important thing Thursday though. Never give children honey on a stick outside of a bee house. Thisdid cause somem nervousness. Oh well it's all with the territority.

Don't cry for me...

I went to see the musical Evita last night! Darc surprised me and took me to the show as an early birthday present. It was here for 4 nights and last night was the finale. I loved it!!! I was excited to hear that it was coming but had decided I couldn't afford to go. I've been pretty busy since arriving back in Montreal. Matthew stayed with us for the first week we were back. We had a lot of fun and ate a lot of ice cream. (Did anyone see Wedding Crashers??? It's so funny!) Last Monday to Wednesday Jane and I were busy with orientation activities for the new class and then Thursday it was back to classes. I had a relaxing long weekend. I finally finished my trip/beach read Monkey Business which turned out to be really good. I also finished The Guardian. Tonight I've been looking after Chloe who must've eaten something on our walk that made her sick. I think I could write a book on how a puppy can help you meet people. Since I've been here I've talked to so many people that normally would just walk by. I've met so many people even in my own building...even a few cute guys. ;) She can also weed out the people that you wouldn't want as a friend. Some people have given me a dirty look when she's looked at them. I told Matt to buy a puppy so he can meet a lady but I think I'll keep my mouth shut about that or else I'll have two puppies to look after. Poor little Lily had to have an operation to remove her tail a week ago because they discovered she had cancer. I think it was caught in time and may not have spread but Christopher and Angela are still waiting to hear for sure. How's Sasha, Carolyn? I'm excited to hear about your job Michelle. Do you start tomorrow? Any news with anyone?

doesn't look like me

So I got my photos back from the shoot yesterday...... hahahahaha It is actually funny to see myself pose. I suppose that they look ok, but they just don't really look like me. I don't want to post them on My Space as I don't want everyone to see them so I will figure out a way to show you gals.
My cousins friend from Ont is staying with me for abit (he is a boy) and having fun showing him around. It is too bad I am "anti wanting anything to do with guys" at the moment as he is cute but ah well my Mojo will come back soon I am sure.
Hope everyone has a good weekend. I am going to The Lotus on Sat with the flatmates. I am sure to have stories apres that!

Another drunk night for MC... I think

Hello ladies,
Well it may not have been MC that was drunk. I decided to drink Smirnoff Twist last night. I will never ever do that again. Michelle and I drank alone at my place and headed out. Once there I bought a beer. I must say I was feeling a little giddy. In fact I was downright hilarious if I do say so myself. We met up with Rebecca and Rachel and danced a little and had some fun. To make a long story short I woke up at 7:30 am lying on my bed fully clothed with no blankets what so ever. I looked beside me and found my blankets on the floor and underneath them was a chicken. With only his feathers on if you get my drift. I know ladies this code is hard to crack. Very little memory except getting very sick in the bathroom but I don't remember getting to the bed. That's about it for me. It was interesting to say the least.
PS Never drinking again ever!!

I am alive

I know I have been totally lacking in Blogstories but I am back and have some for yas!
I haven't even read the blog in awhile so I am sorry about not being in with the "know"....
CT I am glad that Sasha is feeling better. That must have been so scary!
Europe sounds even more amazing now, I can't wait to go!!! Due to get there next May.....
Working alot!!! Flirting still ongoing with Jonny (guy from work). Not much has happened other than a few kisses and cuddling, which suprises me, however I am sure it is because we work together and also after thinking I found the love of my life then having my heart ripped out and thrown in the trash compactor I am scared!
Jack Johnson was AMAZING, STELLAR, UNBELIEVEABLE. WOW! That is all I can say. A tear came to my eye when he started singing Rodeo Clowns (fav song), and Taylor as that is the song Bobby (surf dude from Cali) played on his guitar for us that night in Newcastle............
This might come to a shock to everyone but I had a professional photoshoot done yesterday!
I know I was quite taken aback when this man came into Martinis a couple weeks ago and wanted to do headshots of me (for free), and wanted nothing in return. Everyone told me to be careful and I was. It was during the day (early evening) and I made sure that this guy was legit before going. It was so weird at first just standing there smiling and posing while lights and a camera is on you. After about 10 min I felt pretty comfortable and didn't think anything of it. Apparently (according to the photographer and his assistant) I am a natural..... whatever they probally say that to everyone. I get a CD of the photos and then get to decide weither or not I want to release them on a portfolio....... what the hell! I have no clue what to think or do. hahaha I think it is funny. I always did want to be in a Noxeema commercial..........

Lots of Love and thinking about all the fun you are having on PEI with Mo and everyone, I will be homw at Christmas.... Dec 23rd until the 30th!

Girls...

Girls we need to get our shit together!! The summer is supposed to be the time for intersting stories and good times. And by the looks of our blog we had more going on in March! I am guessing it's because for the most part we are all together and see each other every day so there's no need. Michelle arrives home this evening and I think we're all going to hit the races. Pamela there is a new ride there called the F reak out and it looks like so much fun. Lori and I had my bro convinced to go on it last night but we got out there and line up was way too long. That's basically all I got for now, going to go out to my class room for a little while today I think so I'll have the rest of hte week free to do whatever.

...And his name was Ben...

Hello all, well do I ever have an interesting story to tell. Kendra and I went out to supper the other night to BP's which was really good, more so the evening then the food on my part but anyways, on with the story. So Kendra and I walk in, get seated and chat and chat. I see this guy and start telling all about him, that I know he goes to my gym and I think i said something one night to him when I was really drunk about him being really good looking....ok i probably said he was hot, who am i kidding. So we are laughing about this and I'm saying ok this is weird he keeps looking at us...anyways we both kinda just brush off the topic. We order a round of drinks and proceed with the evening...that is until, Mr. Gym man that I hit on decides to walk over to us and preceeds to say to me, "don't I know you?? " Me getting as red as anything looking at Kendra and her trying as hard as possible not to laugh b/c of the story I just gave her...then he contiunes, are you from fredrection??? I was like yea I went to school there yadda yadda yadda, then hes like I was the bouncer at the chestnut (a bar that I frequented a lot). So I start laughing, i was like I thought I knew you from the gym, he totally brushed that off...and we introdcued ourselves...his name is Ben. He says that he remembers me a little while back that I had come in and he wanted to say that he remembered me but didn't now since he wasn't working there tonight and had a couple of beers I suppose he felt a little more confident?? He exits the scene..
Kendra and I proceed to eat, only to have our waiter approach us, "excuse me ladies but Ben said he would buy you a round of whatever it is that you are drinking." we look at each other and start to laugh....ok sure and order some more drinks, great night? Sure if you account for the ladies hes sitting with at the bar and who keep turing around and looking at us, I said to Kendra I'm glad this place is dark b/c i'm as red as anything. Anyways now Kendra and I are both like ok what do we do, do we have to go up and talk to him?? We don't of course, thats not our job, we ackonledge him sitting at the bar and thank him. So about 20 min later he walks over to us again this time sitting down with us, starts talking baout how hes kinda embarrassed about coming over and asking how he knew us, Kendra tells him she thought he was using a line (very funny as get really gets embarassed over that)... he gave us the invite to come back on sat. for more free drinks b/c he was working the bar and sat. night usally gets pretty slow, I'm guessing we could keep him company or at the very most entertained!
A rather funny and interesting evening, I said Kendra this doesn't usually happen but sure enough the first time we go out somewhere something weird that that has to happen, oh yea did I mentiont that he was hot ??? hahaha good times...Kendra please feel free to add anything that I have left out....i thought this would make for an interesting blog

It had the potential of being the worst day of my life...

Well Foxy you wanted to know what I've been up to. Well Tuesday night I was over at the Lynds' until like midnight going through all of our pictures. Of course playing with the new puppy a little as well. Of course we told her mom that my dog was 14 and still perfectly healthy. Jinx!! Wednesday morning my brother called me and was like I have to go to work and you better come over and say good-bye to the dog she was sick all night long and now she's stumbling around like she's drunk. Over I come and girls she got up to see me walked to me and fell down and I bawled like I haven't bawled in years. You know how little kids cry until they lack oxygen. I was doing that. Eventually she followed me downstairs being a total trooper but could get back up so I had to carry her and when I put her down she fell and she couldn't get back up and I was an absolute mess. I called mom to come home to take her to the vet with me to have her put down because I just couldn't watch her suffer like that. Her eyes were going back and forth like crazy and mom as soon as she came home confirmed my thoughts, that she'd had a stroke. We got her into the car and drove to the vet clinic. The vet looks at her and tells us it's nothing serious, common in older bigger dogs and will be gone in 3-5 days. If not then it's a brain tumor. But he was pretty confident it's this thing. I couldn't believe it but sure enough I'm over here to take care of my baby again today and she seems so much better than yesterday. So that's basically been my past couple of days. Going to the movies with Peggy and Kerry this afternoon and then to Canada Rocks tonight with Lyndsay. I heart summer on PEI! Kendra I'll be around all weekend but Lynds will be at Chris and Moira's wedding.
Later ladies,

Milestone...

Hi ladies,

I know this probably isn't exciting to anyone else, but I just tried on my favorite stuff from last summer that 2 months ago I couldn't even button, and now I can!!! A few things need a few more pounds to go before they look good again, but the fact that I can get into them makes me so happy! Just felt the need to share. CT, get me to a couple Ufit classes when I get home, and I'll be good to go. And I heard from the Medical Society lady, I have to call her when I get home and we're going to meet that first week :) Talk to you all soon. Lynds, congrats on the pup.

Storytime

Seeing as the poor blog is feeling so neglected I thought it was time for a story. It's 5:30 and I've just spent the day marvelling at how beautiful this Island really is. Of course I was at Daytime Myrons and the scenery wasn't the only beauty if you know what I'm saying... All right now that I've broken the ice the question is which story to give. Let me tell you some things I learned about the bathrooms in Europe. 1. Bathrooms are not free, in fact the first rest stop we arrived at we had no money and had to pee and actually had to take money out of the bank maching (Lynds did I couldn't get mine to work) buy something in the store to break the 50 and then Lynds had to spot me 50 cents in order for me to pee as well. 2. Toilet seats are a priveledge. That's right at first I thought someone had stolen the toilet seat from my toilet. Turns out no they hadn't that they just don't use toilet seats. Picture it like doing squats, so good for the thighs. 3. A simple handle to flush the toilet is too easy. That's right I saw buttons, I had one in Italy that just flushed every 30 seconds whether it needed to or not, almost threw off my balance as I squated and if I'd fallen I would have gone right in seeing as there was no toilet seat. In fact our first one in London it took Lynds and I a good 5 minutes to figure out you had to turn the handle first one way and then the other in order to flush. 4. There's no better way to scare the crap out of yourself than by having pink or purple toilet paper. I found it so everytime I'd be like ah what's that oh right it's the colour of the toilet paper. So that's just a taste of some of the culture shock we received while we were over there. I'm afraid I can't write anymore right now as I'm absolutely in need of food. 5 hours at the beach on an empty stomach not a good idea, don't recommend it.
Love you girls,
CT
