Wasting away in the Tropics

Hi ladies,

It is sooooooo hot here in Ottawa. I believe it's currently around 40 or so with the humidex. A little sticky for my liking. No A/C in the new place either, so I basically just have to sit directly in front of my one little fan and hope for the best. I'm getting groceries on the way home and I'm going to try to get a fan. Hopefully they're not totally sold out from the heat wave. Dad's coming to visit next week and I've got my fingers crossed that he loves me enough to buy me an air conditioner.

In other news, I'm all moved in to the new apartment and I love it. I still have a few little things to do and it's messy already, but it's all mine and I don't have to worry about a creepy ass landlord coming in when I'm not home and leaving the toilet seat up as evidence that he was there. On the contrary, my new building manager, Mo, seems like a really cool guy. Around our age I think. He left me a message yesterday to tell me how to buzz people in to the building and told me to give him a call to let him know how the apartment's working out. The only complaint so far is the heat, but that's to be expected on the 16th floor when it's 36 degrees outside and you still don't have any curtains up to block out the sun. I'll post pics when I'm finished decorating.

This weekend Pegs, Hugh and I are off to Montreal for the night on Saturday to take part in the International Beer Festival with the Lynds and crew. I believe there will be a reunion with Matt Allas that should provide some entertainment. I don't think I've seen him since second year university. If all his talk on their blog about how much money he makes and Lynds' stories about how he likes to share it around are true, then it should be a really good night. It'll be back here bright and early on Sunday because Pegs remembered she's supposed to go see Chicago at 2:00 that afternoon. As long as I get something greasy for breakfast before we head out, I should be ok. It'll be back to O-Town for a couple of nights, then I'm going back to Montreal on Wednesday to see Snow Patrol with Lynds. Should be fun. I'll be in town for a grand total of about 12 hours. Better be a good concert. My dad's in town the next day and, if I'm lucky, I think he's bringing some lobster. Yum!!

I should end this since I'm still at work, but I think we need an update from our friends in the West. Marla and Amanda....where are you? Marla, I think I've gathered from your MSN name that Meredith's visiting. I hope you have fun! Amanda, I think you've dropped off the face of the earth. What date exactly are you both going to be home? I can't wait to go out on the town! Pam, you'll have to update us on your new place. Kendra, I want to hear about the job when you get a chance and CT, let me know when you book your plane ticket!!!

K, Really gotta go. About to wet my pants. Miss you all and you better post soon.

Missing all of you so much!

I don't know what it is about today but the sun is shining, it's a beautiful day, I just did U-Fit outside and all I can think about is how much I wish one of you was here to share it with me. Luckily just got off the phone with Foxy and she's coming for a visit in June. Hopefully Lynn and I are going out on the town this weekend so that will give me a little girl time. So just thought I'd write you ladies a note to let you know how my weekend was. For those who didn't know I flew to Toronto last Wednesday for Skate Canada's annual meeting in Markham. Well I walked in through the security check at the C-town airport and who is sitting there but Mark Burke! I gave him a huge hug and we spent the next half hour catching up. He proposed to Charlene on Valentine's Day in Arizona. He's buying his grand-mother's house on Moreau Dr. and is buying Dr. Beer's practice so he's pretty well set. He was on his way to write his boards in Kitchener. We caught each other up on all the news and promised to get together when everyone came home. I've since found out that Marcel got into physio at Dal and is on the waiting list for Western. Everyone's all grown up! Anyway some things never change. Waiting for my luggage I looked at the first two blue bags that came my way. Mark was waiting for his mother's bright purple luggage. Then he started laughing at me and was like what colour is your bag because those two bags weren't even close to the same colour. I was like oh shut up they were so! Eventually my bag comes and I'm pleased to see that it's all wet and Mark adds to this by saying it smells like shampoo but that's ok you'll be able to buy more shampoo. I look at him and say and a new wardrobe because if that shampoo is all over my suitcase it's all over my clothes too. Turns out is wasn't. We parted ways and I waited for the Skate Canada guy to pick me up. He did and after getting lost in the parking lot, losing out ticket to get out of the parking lot, missing the exit not once but twice. Then it was off to Markham. Beautiful huge hotel. The rest of the weekend wasn't nearly as interesting as it was mostly skating stuff. Got a little shopping done and Saturday night we went into Lord of the Rings musical. It was amazing and they actually explain a lot more than they do in the movie, unless you go to the movie and bring Lyndsay's little brother to explain it all to you. Today was my spring concert and things went pretty good. That's about all I got for you ladies. I got a Lulu zippie at the Eaton Centre they had so much more selection than they do here I just couldn't help myself. Gotta go shower before the boy toy arrives.

I need to make the bestest best ever running playlist for Saturday. Any suggestions for good running/workout songs??? My best one so far is 'Dare' by Gorillaz. I heart that song.

Peer Pressure

My weekend was pretty tame...until Saturday night. Darcy has an apartment full of visitors so they were all going for dinner at l'Academie (a bring your own wine restaurant). I decided to join because the food there is quite good. Someone made the rule (I don't remember who) that we had to each bring a bottle of wine. I went safe with a white Masi wine that I like. I almost made it through the bottle but I passed on my last half a glass. Things were fine until I stood up - that's the problem about those places! I was walking home feeling pretty tipsy. Luckily, a bus came along because otherwise I might not have made it home. I got home, took Chlo outside and collapsed on my bed. Then pretty soon after I became best friends with my toilet. :'( Michelle, when you come to visit we have to go to a BYOW place but don't let anyone make the one bottle per person rule...or at least convince me that I shouldn't go along with it. Remember our wine night in the summer?? :) Ahh memories...
Matt will still be here the weekend of June 3rd. He's writing the CFA test here on June 3rd so that Saturday night is going to be crazy. We've already decided on making a stop at the beer festival. I'm sure there will be lots of other places too. Do you know yet if you can come for Snow Patrol??? My fingers are crossed.

Hilarious website!!!

Here are my top 4 results:
~ Kate Hudson 74%
~ Christina Ricci 74%
~ Paula Abdul 73%
~ Charlize Theron 73%

I also tried it with another pic...
~ Mischa Barton 74%
~ Sofia Coppola 74%
~ Reese Witherspoon 73%
~ Penelope Cruz 73%

Only 4 celebs were matched to both pics - Penelope Cruz(I wish!), Anne Hathaway, Christina Ricci & Alyssa Milano. I don't see the resemblance!! I was matched with a lot of other random celebs...including Eva Longoria, Lucille Ball, and even Michael Keaton!!

It's another rainy day here!! I miss the sun...it's been so long since I've seen it! I'm pumped for Ottawa this weekend. I'm still a little scared of the 10km but you're allowed to walk so I won't kill myself girls. MC is also going to try to come to Montreal for June 6th (and hopefully the weekend before!!) to see Snow Patrol. I'm so excited!! I also realized that the beer festival is on that weekend. http://www.festivalmondialbiere.qc.ca/ We'd have so much fun MC!! ;) See you soon.

Hope everyone's having a great weekend.

www.myheritage.com

I came across this website (www.myheritage.com) while I was reading another blog on the internet. Basically, you upload a picture of yourself and it's some facial recognition software that looks at features of your face and matches it up with the celebrities in the database and compares how similar your facial characteristics are. Apparently it can change based on which picture you use, etc. I just did it and it's pretty funny. I suggest that everyone try it and post their matches. Mine were as follows:

  • Paula Abdul 73%
  • Geri Halliwell 70%
  • Jessica Alba 68%
  • Chelsea Clinton 66%
  • Alicia Silverstone 66%
  • Naomi Campbell 63%

I totally see the resemblence, don't you? Entertaining to say the least. Jessica Alba I'll take, but Paula Abdul?? Not so sure about that one.

I hope you all have more exciting plans for the long weekend than me. I'm going to try to pack everything so I'll have as much time with Lynds as possible next weekend. I also have to wait for the movers to get Bren's stuff, go shopping for stuff for the apartment with Pegs and hopefully stain my bedframe because right now it's plain and kind of ugly. I've been at work for 6.5 hours and it feels like 24. It's the day that's never going to end. Still no internet at home, so I'll have to wait until Monday to see if any of you take part in the good times to be had at that website.

Hope you all have great weekends :) Miss you.

Let's have another drunk post from Foxy

That was a funny one! Tell us how the new job is going, that is if you can get your calculator to stop popping up on your computer for long enough. As for the rest of you there must be more news than that. I went for a walk around VP last night. Man I love that place! There are 6 days of school left until my spring concert. Unfortunately I'm only here for 4 of them, causing a little bit of stress right now, espescially seeing as I haven't begun to think of costumes yet. I wish I could draw! I'm going to Markham, Ontario next week and on Saturday night we're going into Toronto to see the Lord of the Rings Musical. It's supposed to be really good so I'm kind of excited about that. Possibly going out on the town with the 'boy toy' and his friends this week-end. Should be interesting, although not the same without you gals. Anyway the actual reason for my post is MC and Lynds remember when we wrote "So Many Colours."? Well I actually read a spin off today. It was kinda funny. Every year the grade 6 teacher at Eliot River brings his class to meet my class and his class writes books about my class and brings them back. I've lent him "So Many Colours" both times. So of course these grade 6's come back with books with similar layout to ours and the whole punch out theme etc. When they leave most of them give the books to the grade 2's to keep. So then I read them to the class. Some of them are freakin hilarious and this particular group of grade 6 are, it's because I taught them when they were in grade 4;) So I was reading this one books and the girl wakes up in the morning and everything outside is gray. Its been raining and the rain has washed all of the colour out of the world. So the little girl gets really sad and comes up with a plan. She climbs a mountain and dumps paint in the clouds and the next time it rains everything gets coloured again. Anyway it was one of those crazy stories like ours. That was so much fun to do though. Anyway we have an after school social that I need to go to.

Complete & Utter Nonsense

Ladies really this blog has to start picking up the pace, I mean seriously I'm starting to feel as though I'm a blog addict and for some strange reason wonder if they have meetings for things like this! ?? haha I'm honestly just getting really excited for the summer. Got an invite to my cousins wedding (kennedy side) and its at 3pm on a Friday needless to say I won't be attending as I would rather stay here and make some $$ ... that sounds bad doesn't it? I'll be home the following though and totally in need of some beach time. People say there are beaches in Halifax, yea I saw what they called a beach and it looks like someone bought some sand and placed it right beside a highway b/c there was some water there and **bing** there's a beach! People...
Anyway I didn't really come on here with anything much to say, honestly just waiting to web cam with my mother. I'll talk to you later later later later later...

I'd come home sooner if I could!!

Sorry CT...but I can't be there to party with you in July. When are you going to visit MC and Peggy in O-town??? Perhaps I could plan to meet up with you for a couple of days, depending on my schedule and if I have someone to watch Chloe. Anyone watch Grey's tonight???? I can't believe the season finale was 3 hours long...not that I'm complaining.
Help - I need running tips!! I only have two weeks to turn into a runner. :( I need a running fairy godmother to appear. I don't even know how long 10km actually will be. I've asked Matt to figure out a route while he's driving but I'm not holding my breath for him to actually do it. Ok, I'm off to bed. Miss you all lots.

I'll be home before August

Well it sounds like you had such a good night, I wish I was with you CT...love those guys! :) Well my weekend was full, Friday night I went to Evita which was really good some of the songs actually gave me goosebumps but it was no Madonna and Antonio.
Saturday night Beth, Becca, and me went out for a night on the town. Very interesting, and consisted of me playing pool (which I can't do), going to the pacifico, had some lebinese guys buying us roses....and then off to the Ale house (oh and we gave the roses away). Dancing it up at the Alehouse who do I see, Dave Macd. he seemed pretty excited, literally picked me up and was spinning me around, woudln't stop kissing my cheeks (on the face :p ) and I guess he is living here now. I introduced him to Beth who took it upon herself to work it, I mean, dance all up on him and then later she asked me if he was gay! hahaha I was like don't say that! Anyway it was a funny night. We took a cab to Alexanderas, which is a pizza place but have really really good poutine and just built a new one up here beside my apartment. So we ate there and then got the pizza delivery guy to drive us home!! hahaha it was funny.
Well I should go and get ready for work. I'll be home in July CT and maybe even in June...who knows!! :) You could always come and visit me when schools out! Visit my new pad! love ya all

Oh JC Posted by Picasa

I heart Peakes!!

Oh ladies! So the boys did ditch me for more video games. But I decided to see if I could find my own fun. I called my friend Erin and she was heading over to her old pad to party as it was one of her former roomates b-days and her mom had made the most ridiculous cake ever. Kendra you could imagine this cake knowing her mother. So anyway it was a Toronto Maple Leaf golfing and the cake had a sand trap made of sugar, grass, the whole deal. So she called me and said yeah we called JC and he just picked up Rammer, Howie and Zuppy. Right away I knew what kind of night that was going to be. Those clowns had been drinking since about 4 on the golf course. Of course sitting there one goes so heard you went out with my cousin. I was like huh, the farmer. Oh shit! I asked him if he knew whether we were still dating as I hope he's gotten the hint by now but it is possible he hasn't. :S One offered to call him and I was terrified he would but Jeffy came to my rescue. And promised to be my date when his sister and my brother get married as we all finally agree that's going to happen. I didn't have time to down many drinks before it was time to head to the bar at like 11:30 to get in. I seem to have misplaced my id so I was terrified of the nineteen year old on a power trip at the door. As he told me it was illegal not to have id Jeffy yelled up the stairs Hey Whiter and Mike came to my rescue. So Peakes was just right. Not too crowded, but full of 19 year olds who run to the bar in tiny skirts and halters in May. Tell me we never did that someone please. Basically danced up a storm. Lost all of the girls and ended the night with Howie and his bro. Good times... Man can't someone come home before August?? Amanda?? Meanwhile I'll have to party there for all of us.
Love ya,
CT

Time after time...

Oh ladies doesn't that bring back memories. I'm alone in C-town tonight and sitting at the computer and this was the first song I saw on my playlist. Oh biology labs. Anyway I'm pretty sure the boys are bailing on me because Neil's a little on the cranky side. So that's right I'm up for a big night of movies with June! Woohoo! Not sure though I'm not going to give up that easy. I may see what else I can come up with, I was pumped for tonight. I even actually figured out something to wear and everything! Does anyone need me to go give their mother a mother's day hug tomorrow? MC? I'll be going past your place on my way out to the school in the morning. Gotta go I need to finish the Sudoko and decide what I'm doing. Pam I hope Evita was amazing!

I miss the gentle island....

Hi girls,
It's been a long time since I've posted. I've been sick ever since I arrived back in MTL but am finally getting better. I meant to post about last weekend...but I guess I forgot. We had a year-end party on May 5th so it was Cinco de Mayo themed. We had a great time...lots of drinks, food and even a pinata. Afterwards, Jules and I decided we needed more drinks so we met up with Darcy and some of his friends and went to a bar. I gave Darcy my keys to hold at some point in the evening and forgot about that until I arrived home at my apartment at 3:00am. Luckily, some people came by so I was able to get into my lobby. I finally reached Darcy and he said he'd bring my keys over right away. Meanwhile, Matt came home so I hung out with him. Darcy did leave right away but left in such a hurry that he got here and realized he not only forgot my keys but left his keys in his apartment too. So we were both locked out. He went back to his place to try and get in (with no luck). So I slept on Matt's futon until 8am Saturday when I decided it was safe to wake up the landlord to get in my apartment. Poor Chloe was pretty upset but had lots of food and water and newspaper to pee on. Darcy also got in his place the next morning after sleeping for a few hours in his apartment doorway. What a weekend...I spent the rest of the weekend trying to catch up on the sleep I missed Friday night.
My last day for my summer job is August 6th. So I'll be home ~Aug.8th until ~Aug.28th!!! I'm very excited! I can't wait. My aunt and cousins will be visiting from Aug. 10th-17th. I would be up for the having the whore house anytime except Aug. 12th because I think we're having a big surprise family thing for my parents that day. Near the end of the summer Jane and Julie might come to visit for a few days and then I could drive back with them.
Miss you.
Love, Lynds

Too funny!

Vacation Days

I think that everyone should post the days that they are going to be in PEI in order to help poor Carolyn out!! :) I'm going to be home the weekend in of July8 and then in August from 11-20. I also have 2 weddings in July I don't know if I'm going to them cause they are both on Fridays! But if I only go to one that is July28th. I think that a night at the cottage would be perfect. We should figure that out and I can ask mom and dad if anyone is going to be there, or if they feel like running a whore house again? Could bring in some good bucks $$$. So as of right now thats my schedule but things could change depending on the thesis and where I am with that. Either way I decided to take a long holiday in PEI this year. I'll talk to you all later

Remember to wear a raincoat!

35 more days!!

That's right ladies the countdown is on. Of course this time it's not to the reunion to end all reunions, it's to the end of the school year. What are the plans for the summer? Everyone is coming home at different times and you gals know me, unless I see it written down it doesn't really sink in. At first Lynds and I were thinking we should rent a cottage or something like the do in the 3rd Sisterhood book. Only problem there is that the time when MC is home just barely crosses with the time that Lynds is home. Maybe your cottage for a night or something Pam? I think this may be the summer I cease being a Peake's whorre. I know you're all rolling your eyes but it's been open two weekends and I've only been once on a Thursday. How unlike me! And yet when I got a phone call from there at 1:30 am Saturday morning it was so loud sounding there I was pretty glad I was home in bed and not there. Anyway my chalk board isn't going to wash itself. MC thanks for the pics, I'll show them to my class tomorrow. And go for it with this guy, who knows what your type may be. I'm going to UFIT tonight at 5:30 but will be home later if anyone wants to give a call.
Love you,
CT

Maybe I am DUMB!

Ok, Michelle you are most likley going to know what it is I'm going to say, but I found out and thought it was really funny. Remember the cooking show "whats for dinner" Well the woman on that show was Mary Jo Eustace. sound firmilar? Thats because shes caught up in scandal, her ex husband cheated on her with Tori Spelling and they just got married in Figii. When I saw her name first I was like where do I know that from, so like most people I googled her, and to my surprise it was Ken & Mary Jo!!! (Michelle, remember when he came to Zellers and made ceaser salad??) Anyway for those of you who don't remember I'm putting up a picture too! Hate to be the gossip one but I really thought it was funny that a small Canadian girl and boy was in such a big affair with someone soooo Hollywood!!

Hello!

I FINALLY posted my pictures from North Carolina. They're following this post. I think I managed to capture some of the major parts of the Dawson's Creek that we all know and love.

As I commented on one of CT's various posts, I got my apartment this week. I'll be signing the lease this afternoon and then I'll be able to finally breathe a real sigh of relief. Then the next headache will be figuring out when/how to move. It never ends.

I wanted to let you all know that I've decided to move to Australia and find myself a sugar daddy. I've been chatting with Dr. Rob again lately, who's still in Perth, and I decided yesterday that I'm going to move down there and let him support me :P I discovered he's doing quite well for himself (around $135,000 a year) and just bought himself a brand new 3 bedroom house on the beach, so I figure there's more than enough room for me. Pam, you'll appreciate the new car he's saving for...a Porsche SUV. He said a couple times that I should come visit and I'll be sure to inform you all of my departure.

If only the possibility of taking off to the other side of the world to meet up with a guy I only met once was feasible. Life would be sweet if I could just move to Aus and sit on the beach all day while someone else paid the bills. Although when I put it that way, it really doesn't sound like a bad idea, does it?

I should end this now since I am at work and all. I miss you all lots. Talk to you soon.

Love,
MC

"Dawson's Creek"

The video store that Pacey and Dawson worked at in the first season or two. It's now a hair salon.
The park where Pacey and Andy first kissed.
The wall that Pacey bought for Joey. I found this very exciting. Lynds, you'll understand :)
The river boardwalk
Leery's Fresh Fish

I have to say that I definitely wouldn't have recognized most of these places if I hadn't had the little guide sheet thing that told me what everything had been on the show. All in all, I was satisfied with what I saw, although it would have been even greater if the damn studio hadn't been closed to tours because of Easter.
The Capeside "Train Station"...actually the Visitor's Centre

Above you will find the non-Dawson's Creek related pictures from my trip. We were driving along and saw 2 alligators on a golf course. The second one is the view from Mom and Dad's balcony at their condo, and the third one os of the Intra-Costal Waterway that goes from like Florida up to Massachusetts or something. That one makes me thing of 'The Creek' on DC.

Memories...

Well although I don't know Ms. Woods I'm sure my mother could fill me in on some of those stories!! Last night Janice and I went dress shopping for Jenn's wedding and I think we got something http://www.jasminebridal.com/html/web1/b2_2_photo1.asp?id=160. There is a picture at that link, don't know if you can see it or not. The picture shows silver under the top but the one's we are going to get are totally black. A little black dress...sexy!! hahaha
Well this month has been crazy busy so far, trying to find an apartment, getting my committee together (finally!!), work while my boss taking 2 weeks off etc etc! I'll be happy when this month comes to an end!
So I'm trying to think of a memory, if we were to discuss teachers of the past I think I have too many incidients to recall, wow... Ms. Likley consistently kicking me out of class but wait none of you were in those classes you bunch of frenchies. Oh but I have one, remember the first time we ever got into Myrons. The 45 year old french men getting us in (they were french right??) and yelling "OH my god i can't believe we just got in!!!" and then running for it and ditching the oldies?
Thankfully, we always have my mother to fall back on for the laughable quotes! Thanks mom!! :)And Carolyn at Gahan "oh there's your boyfriend!!!" wow....I'll think of more
Carolyn stop picking on Michelle and her 55 chews per bite, poor thing!! hahaha

Remember when...

All right ladies since the blog is dying down again I thought it was time to bring back the ever classic remember when's. Not really I think we've relived most of them about as much as we can. Except of course "I'm not running a whorre house!" "What the fuck car were you in?" and "tubesocks!" Those are classics. Anyway that's not what this is about. Lynds and Marla do you guys remember how insane Mrs. Woods used to get before concerts in the old Spring Park days? Well that's me today! For some reason I seem to be a little on the cranky side today (long week) and when I was getting to them to sing I got all mad because they were looking all over the place so I brought back the whole cross your hands in front of you eyes on me. It's kind of freaky that I'm using her tactics but hey they were singing a bit better until one started pointing at me. Realized he was pointing at the clock and gym started 10 minutes ago. We power-walked and of course I got a lecture but I don't know why she got to sit in her office for 10 minutes doing nothing. All right heading to K-town for some quality bonding time with Allyn for the weekend but I'm planning on taking Saturday night pretty easy because Lynn's going home so some of you may get phone calls. Marla and Amanda I don't know that I actually know where either of your numbers are.

Finally found my place..

In halifax, which actually isn't too far from where I am or where i've been. What do I mean by this?? Well I'm moving back into Stoneybrook (the place I was for 2 years)I got a 1 bedroom and I'm super duper excited. The landlord held it for me all day today, even told people that I lived in the building so I could see it first and say yes or no, I guess I was a good tenent before :) So I move in on June 1.
I also booked the flight to TO, i'm leaving here with mom and dad on July 20 (thurs.) and coming back on the sunday a short flight but thats ok. I'm all my vaction time this summer in PEI!!! I have offically booked off from the 11-20 of Aug. so it should be a good time! I'm thinking some quality Peakes time, PD in the dish, Brackley, maybe even a tatoo or something...?? hahaha Anyway I'm in a great mood right now, just handed my propsal to all my committee members today! Its a good day so far! Hope eveyone else is doing good too!

Love y'all
